My guess is if you contacted them today about the new HQ Tower, they'd respond "what tower"? I reach out to them every time I write a new article and they don't respond anymore. Their executives have held meetings with employees and denied there is an HQ2 in the works. June 28, 2024Jun 28 Did someone knock out a couple windows while taking the crane down or something? I noticed 4 or 5 plywood windows on the West side of the building in the line of the crane this afternoon.
June 28, 2024Jun 28 they anchored the crane to the building when it was up. they still need to install those

June 28, 2024Jun 28 I wish roofs(rooves? idk) were less ugly looking down from above. Whenever I'm in a tall building like that it's the first thing I notice lol. Not really sure anything can be done about it; you gotta put the HVAC systems and electrical stuff somewhere so I get it but still lol
June 28, 2024Jun 28 I've been thinking the view from the Terminal Tower observation deck must be interesting. Moreso from the 44th floor outdoor deck or the 52nd floor booth.

Also a good view of what how nicely new development will fill in along West 6th and St. Clair.

July 5, 2024Jul 5 You’re right, @Ineffable_Matt ! great catch! I think there will be many surprise reflections around the Square, courtesy of this new tower. Happy 4th everyone!
July 5, 2024Jul 5 Man, l just can't get over how cool those building reflections look. We weren't expecting that, we're we?
July 5, 2024Jul 5 I have said all along that I thought the tower placement/ massing was strategically thought out to give the best bang for the buck filling in the skyline by the architect, including the setback off PS and the reflections. Cleveland does not get a new office tower everyday, and I feel like someone at Sherwin Williams/Pickard Chilton had that in mind and was purposeful in the site and massing/jagged roofline, when all they really had to deliver was a glass box.

Thank you, @metrocity! Well said. This is what I’ve been saying from the very beginning when the tower design was unveiled and people were complaining about the position. Any architect that is worth their fee would do the due diligence you describe for maximum impact. I’ve been preaching the advantage of moving the tower off PS. The reflections mentioned by @cadmen and creating a high impact terminus to Euclid Avenue when looking west had to have been studied in great detail. I believe the true WOW factor will present itself when the lighting is complete.

I have no facts for that, just a thought.

July 12, 2024Jul 12 Wondering: is SHW's shiny new hqs amenable to conversion/repurposing at some future date? The reports that some or all of RenCen in Detroit and the Mellon tower in Pittsburgh may be torn down because they cannot be repurposed are discouraging. Or is this just a failure of imagination?
