October 2, 2024Oct 2 Also not sure if I'm going crazy or not but I've never seen/noticed the Detroit bridge lit up with colors before. Is that new??

These were among 8 with the 1996 hope was this would spur interest in eventually lighting up to a total of 21 or so. ...30 years later glad to at least see Detroit Superior back on. With the renewed interest and development from Bibb's shore-to-core-to-shore maybe Cleveland can restart and complete this initiative with the County's help (Ronayne?). Sad to say Eagle Avenue Lift Bridge was one of the 8 - so with its pending demise we we will see it lit again... Edited October 2, 2024Oct 2 by Willo
October 3, 2024Oct 3 This has been driving me crazy so i looked back, the top arch has been lit white for at least the last year.

I was always loved the view from the water in a boat and even from Burke - so it will be excellent for all to have that opportunity year-round from a future Metro Parks lakefront natutre preserve (sorry Burke).
October 8, 2024Oct 8 Author Sherwin-Williams execs to wait and see on HQ2 By Ken Prendergast / October 8, 2024 The rumor mill is always churning around Sherwin-Williams' plans for handling its growing number of employees at its soon-to-open new headquarters in Downtown Cleveland, its new research center in suburban Brecksville and at its other other facilities. But that rumor mill has quieted down in recent months, until now. At least there will be an uptick in much needed workforce foot traffic in the area between the other leased buildings and new HQ once opened.

HQ doesn't have skywalks or anything of the sort: https://maps.app.goo.gl/UiRKc1BkNNbtBRsj7 Also re: foot activity I'm curious what the lunchtime walkers that I see in TC will do in the new building. Maybe they'll have a track or something in their wellness facilities to make up for the loss of that space. It is pretty crazy how few people you see outside of the Landmark Building for how many folks are working inside of it.

It is pretty crazy how few people you see outside of the Landmark Building for how many folks are working inside of it. How many people are seen outside an office building is very much a reflection of corporate culture. We've spoken of how even if Progressive had built a downtown skyscraper, the nature of the company even pre-virus would have led it to being a fortress of sorts. SW is known to be somewhat secretive.
October 8, 2024Oct 8 Would foot traffic even be noticeably different? The company is only moving a few blocks. Maybe warehouse district and East 4th restaurants and retail shops(?) could coordinate a discount program for downtown workers, say 11-3 and 5-7. Show your badge, save 20%.
October 9, 2024Oct 9 yknow, I haven't been downtown about a year, neither have I been home home since it has been complete. The way it fills the skyline from 480 bridge perspective is amazing. I've only seen photos, but from them I have never realized the need for a skyline filler such as this project. It does wonders to show how we are progressing by going vertical on prime stretches of land. I'm just hoping in the near future we can connect CSU's Rhodes with the rest of it. October 9, 2024Oct 9 I’m thrilled we have this new “legit” skyscraper - it does wonders in filling in the skyline and at 616 feet, it’s impressive. Still, after seeing it these last months. I still feel that had it been a bit less “wide” and bulky and instead, another 100 feet higher - the skyline would’ve been even more dynamic - it would’ve also allowed for more views where 200 PS wasn’t fully obscured. I also think it would’ve created a somewhat more varied and interesting skyline to not have the building so similar to the dimensions of 200. But that’s a nit-pick personal opinion. Now, I’m just hoping that SW doesn’t put HQ2 on ice for years to come. I think even a couple more towers - say HQ2 and something in the 600’ range on the Nucleus site will really give Cleveland a bigger market look. Edited October 9, 2024Oct 9 by CleveFan
October 9, 2024Oct 9 @CleveFan 100% agreed. I wished the design for SHW was more in line with what the planned Ameritrust Tower was to be. While I like the all glass tower, that was built, the reflective nature makes it almost invisible from afar.
October 10, 2024Oct 10 I'm not sure from a business logistics standpoint, a taller "skinny" tower with smaller floor plates would've been conducive to creating a collaborative environment for employees. The taller more slender towers are typically reserved for residential structures from what I've seen.
October 10, 2024Oct 10 I'm sure SHW was more concerned about making a functional building rather than its skyline appearance. But perhaps it could have been tapered a bit towards the top so only the upper floors would have smaller floor plates.
October 15, 2024Oct 15 Had a tourist in your hometown day on Sunday and snapped a few pics Note to self, Bar32 is closed on Sunday/Monday: From the RV's/Jimmy's Hooverville at the stadium. October 17, 2024Oct 17 As of yesterday afternoon (Wednesday), there appeared to be nothing on the east-facing side. On the west-facing side, there seems to be what I think is something new — two long horizontal rectangle outlines connected by a line. Zoomed in, guessing this is where the letters will go.
