And I'm a little surprised the logos were lit for a day or two but have since gone dark. Probably just a testing period Ohh I didn't realize. Did someone snag photos of that? Also, who knows...maybe the LED lighting is already installed? You can clearly see in some of the photos that the vertical stripes where the lighting is supposed to be is thicker than the rest.
November 21, 2024Nov 21 So I was going by along the interstate and noticed green lights inside the building last night. At first I thought they may have been reflections and couldn’t tell if my eyes were fooling me or not… but they definitely look as though they were coming from inside the building.

November 22, 2024Nov 22 Wish they had it lit up by now. Downtown looked great last night when they would show it during the game. Everything was lit up nicely, then you had SW sitting there looking all eerie lol

I saw only the cutout sections lit and maybe a row at the top. But Sherwin Williams missed a major chance for free advertising as these TNF games bring the works compared to regular network games - so many cameras and we heard this morning NFL Films chise this game to film for some purposes. They hit the jackpot with what both teams and the Christmas-like weather images provided- not to mention showing the entire NFL and Jimmy our fans are the most loyal and don’t eff with us again. Agreed -- I'd rather fill all the Warehouse District parking lots with 6-8 story mid-rise buildings than just one more tower. If we were down to just one lot, then yeah, maybe a tower would make more sense. But we have a sea of parking to fill.

November 24, 2024Nov 24 I would personally take this with a grain of salt, as the beers were flowing, but I was out for the Buckeyes game yesterday and met a guy who works for Independence Excavating and literally drilled the holes for the caissons for this tower. He said Sherwin-Williams is currently accepting bids to drill for a second tower. Other than that, super cool dude. I have his contact info, from Parma as well, and he had a lot of cool stories about working on that job. I was definitely skeptical at first but he backed it up with knowledge that only someone who worked it would know. P.S. he said ironworkers are insane lol

They wouldn't be accepting bids yet, but they might be soliciting input from experts on projected costs and timelines for major components of a second tower to help shape their planning. They were doing the same thing in the fall of 2018, one year before they admitted they were seeking a new HQ. Was it there prior to the demolition of the buildings that used to stand on Public Square prior to their demolition to make way for the Future Ameritrust tower?
November 25, 2024Nov 25 Author @Mov2Ohio Found this from a quick Google search.... The space originally opened in 1959 as a lynchpin in the once flourishing Stouffers Restaurants chain. The former John Q's Public Bar & Grille became John Q's in 1987. https://www.cleveland.com/dining/2013/05/john_qs_a_downtown_cleveland_l.html So the answer is yes, it was there as John Q's Steakhouse for a couple of years (and longer in its prior incarnation) when the two Public Square buildings were demo'd for the Ameritrust Tower. Probably a lot more foot and car traffic on all sides of two historic structures next the 55 public square restaurant. I hope the shack at least offers a bright face of glass and not a solid wall.
November 25, 2024Nov 25 One thing I was curious about; Does anyone know if they're supposed to be redoing the sidewalks and replacing those street lights in front of the shack? They're all a bit run down.

At least the front half has sidewalk level glass while the back half with the air vents/beige wall is not too attractive. Hopefully the graffiti artists who are likely to tag that sidewalk level beige wall will use Sherwin Williams/Valspar paints. Fahrenheit will definitely need to add some destination signage and lighting. At least the shortened Frankfort avenue will allow easy drive up valet parking for restaurant patrons or visitors to residents of the 55 building. Speaking of 55, I see they wisely engaged Ukrainian design firm Dion Art (Cleveland office) for their place making art: Per news story: A tetradecahedron (14-sided polygon) with the 55 emblem greets residents and visitors outside K&D Group's recently renovated 55 Public Square, which now offers more than 200 apartments. Fahrenheit should reach out to Dion Art for a creative solution: https://www.dion.art for that matter so should the planners at the Lakefront, Riverfront, Peninsula, Irishtown Bend Park…see Dion’s website they go amazing work.

It was for about six months. I thought I was gonna shoot myself.🥴

December 20, 2024Dec 20 I don't know if they have space for everyone. And I have asked, and the official word is that there are no current plans for a second tower. I'm hoping they're just being conservative about it.
