Look at page 213

Hmm I did but only saw photos of the name being installed. Nothing where you can distinctly see the strips being installed. I think the strips are thicker to make the crown stand out a bit more.

I also forgot that the pavilion is supposed to have color-changing lights that mimic the colors the tower is set to. I would have to do a deep dive to find where I read that. It also looks like that outdoor area on the tower has some small lights

Does the lighting of either (both?) have the ability to change color so that they can stand out from another?

I would bet a million dollars that all the exterior lighting can change colors.  A) LED color changing lights are pretty commonplace and B) they're a paint company!  If they didn't do color changing lights, then that's the biggest swing and a miss I've ever seen.

From the EarthCam a couple minutes ago. Forgot to grab it earlier to see how the sign popped from that angle

You can go downtown and see the light fixtures at the top of the building on the angled paint brush areas as depicted in the renderings. They are not on yet, but are there. They run in the same line as the window mullions.

I just thought those were larger mullions to to emphasize the crown, but hopefully I'm wrong!

Anyone catch the news this morning? Coworker said Rocco Whalen was on talking about Illuminate Cle tonight and mentioned SHW would be lit up. Unsure if he was just referencing the new sign or the whole package

we will soon find out tonight:\https://clevelandmagazine.com/in-the-cle/news/articles/a-large-scale-permanent-light-show-will-transform-downtown-cleveland-nights

Starting on April 16, the light show, which was created by both VLS and Destination Cleveland, will make a performance out of projections, lighting and music. Projections will transform buildings like Terminal Tower, Old Stone Church, Key Tower, 200 Public Square and the Cuyahoga County Court House into canvases for a dynamic, narrative 10-minute event at the top of every hour, complete with synced songs. (The other 50 minutes of the hour will showcase a more static version of mood lighting.)

Illuminate CLE will run hourly from sundown until midnight. The installation is meant to provide evening entertainment to Downtowners, while also increasing lighting in a civically minded safety move.

Using MayDay's last picture above, see how the vertical strips that are outlined match up to the tower lighting design update photo shared by @willyboy on April 8?  I think these will form the colored light crown.  @MayDay I included your copyright watermark, so I hope this repost is OK to illustrate my point.

@JohnSummit Yes, perfectly okay by me - and honestly it's fine if any forumers want to use my photos specifically for purposes like this (rendering/mockups just for posting on the forum). And yes, I think those are what will eventually make up the lighting on the crown.

There are still a couple pieces missing that I feel they might be waiting on. It’s visible from the ground, even on W.25th St when the sun is cooperating.

Maybe the last couple days they got them installed? Looking forward to seeing the pics from tonight's illuminate event.

Unfortunately no lights from Sherwin tonight. Illuminated was great though. Everyone should stop by to see it.

So it's weird... I just looked at a photo on here from October and those pieces are not in there but everything else is.

Not everyone visits the Forum Issues/Updates thread so figured I'd post this in a thread that gets a lot of traffic. Huge thanks to @richNcincy and his hard work at providing this forum a home, note the following as of some recent updates. Here's the original thread if anyone has questions/comments.

And to keep things on topic, a previously unposted (but same angle) view from the Terminal Tower.

That first photo is ❤️‍🔥

That and especially the second photo looks like they're trying to spell out something with the windows -- like "C" follow by a dropped "I" -- or maybe I've been staring at computer screens too much today.

Hello All,  it's obviously great to have gotten a big shiny skyscraper added to skyline, but is it now safe to comment again how mediocre and unsettling the design of the asymmetric crown appears.  Plus, just how g'd awful the shack turned out.

Maybe I'm over reacting since I live out of state and don't see the building in person very often.

Gulp! Someone convince me otherwise.   I'm hoping to be proven wrong.

PS:  maybe I'm just nervous about how the Browns will run their draft tonight and that anxiety spilled over into this post.

the tower isn't bad, but it is just so-so.  the crown and notches down the middle look like they were added to the design after the fact.

Haha trust me I'm just as worried about the draft lol

I will say, the "front on" angle seeing both sides of the crown is the least flattering, and typically the one people take the most photos of because its the angle facing Public Square.

IMO, every time I drive into the city, especially going north into downtown on I-77 or SR-176, I enjoy seeing the building's impressive stance and it really does wonders for the skyline!!! It's hard to get an angle from that direction thought because ofc, I'm driving lol

If you're ever back in town and have reason to drive into downtown, then I recommend taking one of those routes if you're curious to see it!

and the balcony on the NE at the top of the tower is very obvious.

love the photo! If the shack was just a few more floors taller it would be MUCH better.

When I look at what the architect did with the dramatic rotunda in front of the Devon Energy Center in OKC, it makes me sad that instead of something like that, we got a structure that's closer to a Cheesecake Factory.

Welp, what's done is done.  Some will love it, some will loathe it.  I think it has it's angles where it can be a show stopper, just like the BP (Sohio) building.

Learned something new today.   If SW had been 14 feet talller by roof height it would have been the fourth tallest in Ohio by that measure.....all four on or adjacent to Public Square,

I'm getting to like the SW tower as a good addition to downtown.  It could be much worse, cf. the Hudson Tower in Detroit.  The Hudson "pedestal", where GM is going, I like; but that Tower is an ungainly abbreviation of an initially better design.

Well it can't be said the tower doesn't convey a message.

Public Square has been enhanced so much in my view by the addition of this building closing it in.

  • 5 weeks later...

Been away for awhile. Is this building still sitting empty?

The move is scheduled for quarter 4-through early 2026.

This building really helps modernize the skyline. It was sorely needed.

Glad to see we got a shipping container @MayDay . Maybe we can have the next meetup there!

Interesting views of the tower that arent normally seen!!

Looking forward to seeing tenants in and around this building later this year!!
