Absolutely spectacular architectural illustration, @dave2017! Gotta love the way SHW fills the gap at the terminus of Euclid Avenue, When the top and center verticals are lighted at night, or with the surrounding buildings reflected in the glass— it will be awesome! Great move from the Jacobs Lot to this position. Edited July 6, 20231 yr by ArtMasterCLE

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk @MyPhoneDead, it would have crowded TT from too many vantage points and obliterated it from others. This location opens up the space around Public Square and identifies the relative shape of the city center.

And to your point, it looks like it should have a similar effect on Public Square as the John Hancock Tower does on Copley Square in Boston. I'm a fan. Edited July 6, 20231 yr by ASP1984
July 6, 20231 yr It would have been taller and skinnier on the Jacob's lot to get the same square footage, correct?

Having lived in Boston and being transfixed by it, I always loved that building's 45-degree angled notch up each end. The way it reflected VERY different light than the rest of the building was almost magical. I was really bummed when SW went with 90-degree notches, as they won't really add any "unique" light to the building's appearance. Of course it's their call, what with floorspace concerns and all, but as an architecture fan I thought it was a major missed opportunity.

July 7, 20231 yr Up close, the windows and window pattern looks strikingly similar to 55 Public Square. Just not as reflective and as wavy as 55.

July 8, 20231 yr Coming up 77 the other evening, that crane looked like a big bird of prey sitting on Terminal near the setback.

A shame that the Big 3 (soon to be Big 4) are not prominent from the ballpark, specifically from the home plate camera. The only tallish building visible from that vantage point is the 9 which isn't very attractive IMO. Maybe that will change if those parking lots at 9th and Bolivar get developed someday. Very rough comparison with street-view from ~8 years ago. With the way the downtown grid is laid out there isn't much of an opportunity for a tower to fill the terminating vista of a street. The SW Tower will serve that role for Euclid tremendously well though. When finished I think it will noticeably improve the aesthetic or feeling of downtown from Euclid at the street level. It will be one of my favorite "then and now" pictures of Cleveland.
