October 7, 200717 yr Hey, it's my (somewhat) neighborhood! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 7, 200717 yr It's Upper Arlington lol "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 8, 200717 yr It's almost Bexley. *ducks* No but really, it has a pretty urban grid, just lacks a nice downtown.
October 8, 200717 yr Hey, Old Arlington isn't bad for an "old downtown." Now that Tremont/Kingsdale crap, no. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 8, 200717 yr It's Upper Arlington lol I meant the Columbus area. I had never seen Upper Arlington, but it looks like a great neighborhood. Would Hyde Park be a fair comparison?
October 8, 200717 yr ^Not quite, UA isn't as dense and has a more "zoned" feel. Basically, just think of "General Eastside", then flatten it out.
October 8, 200717 yr ^ you nailed it! we lived on elmwood in a typical brick 4 apt building on the edge of columbus, but the ranch house right next door was in ua. that apt was pretty cool as the other tenants were writers for 'the other paper,' a long running free columbus weekly newspaper, so we got to hear about all the dirt and doings around town.
October 9, 200717 yr It's Upper Arlington lol I meant the Columbus area. I had never seen Upper Arlington, but it looks like a great neighborhood. Would Hyde Park be a fair comparison? Think Wyoming moreso than Hyde Park, minus the downtown area. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 9, 200717 yr Hey, it's my (somewhat) neighborhood! You wish; Lower Arlington. You could compare it to some parts of Hyde Park. The sprawly portion. Definately not the streets north of Erie. Hehe, Wyoming. I talked to this girl I know from Wyoming about the stark contrast once you "cross the railroad tracks" in downtown Wyoming. She was like "yeah we help Lockland out a lot though" I was like yeah I don't see you all lowering your property tax base any time soon.
October 9, 200717 yr Lower Arlington > David. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 9, 200717 yr Hey, Old Arlington isn't bad for an "old downtown." Now that Tremont/Kingsdale crap, no. Old Arlington is it's downtown? It has a downtown? Where? Guh?
October 9, 200717 yr Hey, Old Arlington isn't bad for an "old downtown." Now that Tremont/Kingsdale crap, no. Old Arlington is it's downtown? It has a downtown? Where? Guh? Old Arlington is at Arlington Rd @ Waltham Rd. Basically, coming from Grandview, take Northwest Boulevard north until you get to Waltham and make a left. Go down Waltham and make a right onto Arlington and BAM! Mini-Mariemont. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 9, 200717 yr The best things going about UA are 3 (yes 3) city pools and the crazy international OSU resident population–at any given time you'll hear three languages being spoken at Tremont park. Aside from that, I've got nothing but a great big yawn for UA. Just further proof of the mutual exclusivity of money and taste in Columbus.
October 9, 200717 yr Wonderful UA photos. A garden city surrounded by Columbus and the Ohio State University. I think Upper Arlington also has the highest per capitia of OSU professors than anyplace else on earth.
October 9, 200717 yr ^Either that or Clintonville. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 10, 200717 yr Art teachers can afford Clintonville? You sure they're not in a warehouse somewhere in Franklinton?
October 11, 200717 yr I'm glad someone showed off Upper Arlington. My mom and her fiance are considering moving there; they looked at one of the houses that you took a picture of, which was the house with brick showing through after the stream. Overall, nice pictues and a great suburb close to OSU and downtown. Upper Arlington, by far, beats out New Albany and Powell in terms of housing stock, appeal, character and varieties of people living there.
October 11, 200717 yr The only problem with living in UA is falling into the trap of going to UAHS, commuting to OSU while living with your folks, getting a job downtown, buying a house in Arlington (the "Upper" is implied) and only hanging out with your UAHS class for the rest of your life. Also, was it Upper Arlington or Grandview that had high school fraternities and sororities until the '60s or '70s? Apparently, they were almost as partied-out as their college counterparts.
October 11, 200717 yr These are great...you had some interesting lighting/shadows to play with as well.

If I were from UA I'd probably just take solace in my plight by diving in my private in ground pool full of 10 dollar bills.
October 11, 200717 yr It's not quite Oakwood, but still nice :) It's more like western Kettering (the area south of Oakwood) than Oakwood. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
