Posted October 18, 200717 yr Zanesville seems to be one of those cities that is on the way to everywhere. I've explored Zanesville several times, but still haven't been able to figure it out; its just odd...but likeable. Plus, Zanesville has the Y-bridge: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=6514.0
October 18, 200717 yr ^ Ahh, My place of employment Perhaps the best collection of downtown yet! Great job!
October 18, 200717 yr The people of Zanesville sure are camera shy. Nice shots. Sort of a Blaine, MO vibe. (off to go hunt for shots of the Y-shaped bridge) Thanks, Google Sight Seeing: http://googlesightseeing.com/maps?p=1572&c=&t=k&hl=en&ll=39.940529,-82.014297&z=17

October 18, 200717 yr Nice shots of Zanesville. My sister and I went there on my last trip home, and we both liked it. Seems very urban for such a small town, and some of the buildings are real gems. Plus, it has some unusual church architecure, the Y Bridge and a lovely setting. We both commented on the huge structures in the alleys carrying electric and telephone lines. You'd be hard pressed to find many people on the street anywhere at 9 on Sunday a.m. Here everyone is still sleeping off Saturday night! Thanks for the tour.
October 18, 200717 yr I am sure everyone knows this, but just in case... The Y Bridge in Zanesville, OH was first built in 1814 to span the confluence of the Licking and Muskingum Rivers. The current bridge is the fifth construction at the same location. "Ripley's Believe It or Not" proclaimed it the only bridge in the world which you can cross and still be on the same side of the river.
October 18, 200717 yr oh, just to let you know, If you noticed, there are several large vases infront of various downtown buildings. This is a relatively new project. Downtown has something like 26 artists living and working downtown. Since Zanesville is known as the "Pottery Capital of the World," these artists desided to do this vase project. All of the artists have painted one, and they get auctioned off. They are scatterd all over town, like the pigs in Cincy. Look here for the artist colony website http://home.comcast.net/~artistcolonyofzanesville/
