October 20, 200717 yr Damn, Evergrey these are fabulous! Def an improvement over your last camera ... they make Pittsburgh actually look good! Ha, just kidding, Pittsburgh is HOTT anyway ;)
October 20, 200717 yr Those pics are great! I've never been there, but I've always wanted to go. Some of those old houses look amazing.
October 21, 200717 yr couldn't be better. yeah and the clarity is amazingly sharp too. i take you now have a bigger lens? it seems like some of the pedestrians didnt know what hit them.
October 21, 200717 yr Thanks mrnyc! My zoom is much more powerful than my previous camera. I don't think any of these pedestrians realized I was taking their picture with the possible exception of the dude in the red shirt... and I think that glance may have been coincidental. I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable... I'm not sure if most people would understand I'm just documenting the urban experience. I've really been focusing on people shots lately... it's a lot of fun to capture interesting urbanites. I've been busy with grad school... but hopefully I'll get to try out my new camera and skillz in some other cities in the near future.
October 21, 200717 yr Terrific photos! I find this one to be particularly spectacular: "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
October 21, 200717 yr Nice variety. I probably don't need to tell you (I will anyway) that the first shot and the night shots are the best. I may have to visit Mt. Washington when I'm there in December, its been years.
October 22, 200717 yr Nice shots, Evergrey! Your evening shots turned out really well. I know that sometimes those can be a hassle.
October 22, 200717 yr I could have sworn I had seen some of these exact pictures before...they are great none the less
October 22, 200717 yr I could have sworn I had seen some of these exact pictures before...they are great none the less My apologies. This post was designed for SkyscraperCity... where I rarely post pics... and I couldn't remember if any of these were posted here. Just think of it as a "Greatest Hits". But I guess it is a sort of compliment that you "remember" some of these shots lol Thanks everyone! Hopefully i can do some Ohio photography with my new camera one of these days.
October 23, 200717 yr I like the Polish Hill shot. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
November 2, 200717 yr so this is what a city looks like when it hasnt destroyed half of its dense older building stock huh note the new condo tower under construction downtown
November 2, 200717 yr so this is what a city looks like when it hasnt destroyed half of its dense older building stock huh note the new condo tower under construction downtown Point? Guess there's no new condos going up in downtown Cleveland either.
November 2, 200717 yr that's some sexy sh*t! 8-) Cleveland and Pittsburgh really need to adopt a regional mantra and work together for the betterment of the region! Hell, it's quicker to drive between the two downtowns than it is to get from the Loop out to Aurora/Joliet/BFE, IL sometimes! Gorgeous shots!
November 12, 200717 yr so this is what a city looks like when it hasnt destroyed half of its dense older building stock huh note the new condo tower under construction downtown Point? Guess there's no new condos going up in downtown Cleveland either. there is stonebridge/pinnacle and the avenue district...so no stonebridge and pinnacle are not in downtown cleveland....they are geographically separated from downtown cleveland the avenue district there are a few units in a 10-story building and then theres the tiny ass 2 story townhomes so in conclusion there arent any high-rise residential towers being built in downtown cleveland the building in pittsburgh is actually a high-rise tower in downtown
November 12, 200717 yr stonebridge and pinnacle are not in downtown cleveland.... When did the Warehouse District secede from Downtown Cleveland?
November 12, 200717 yr stonebridge and pinnacle are not in downtown cleveland.... When did the Warehouse District secede from downtown Cleveland? Pinnacle and The Avenue district are IN downtown Cleveland, don't know what map you're looking at. Also what is Stonebridge/Pinnacle? There is Stonebridge on the West Bank of the Flats and Pinnacle in Downtown in the Warehouse district.
November 17, 200717 yr Bah... Pittsburgh :-P Sorry, still a little salty about last Sunday's game; great pics Evergrey. Gotta get to Pittsburgh someday, looks like beautiful, very underrated city.
November 19, 200717 yr Thanks guys. The condo tower just opened to residents a few weeks ago. The other construction site pictured is a 23-story mixed-use tower including condos. But we certainly have destroyed our share of historic buildings here in Pittsburgh... though Downtown hasn't been harmed too much and has remained super-dense. We had a couple of architecturally-spectacular NorthSide neighborhoods that were leveled for highways and a failed shopping mall. Over 500 mid-1800s Greek Revival structures... the "Downtown of NorthSide" were destroyed for a mall that died 20 years later (though it's now used as office space).
November 19, 200717 yr wow... this is absolutely gorgeous... the question might have been asked before but what kind of camera did you get?? i LOVE this!! :-)
