October 22, 200717 yr Wow, those Mornington Place homes - Ick. Where's the door? I hate that the main thing is the garage door.
October 22, 200717 yr Wow, those Mornington Place homes - Ick. Where's the door? I hate that the main thing is the garage door. With the focal point being the garage, is It makes the property look like a dressed up cardboard box. How do you enter/exit?? Why are the windows on the side so small, they look like an after thought.
October 22, 200717 yr thanks for these. im not a fan of marburg square or mornington place. those 3rd floor windows on that marburg square unit are hideously oversized.
October 22, 200717 yr I really like how Michigan Terrace turned out. It looks much better from a distance. Grasscat's pic is too close to make out the setback floors, and it just looks odd. I don't like the solution to the grade change along the Erie frontage--installing such a long section of railing along the sidewalk. But all-in-all, I love the design. Nice, sturdy, historically sympathetic infill.

October 22, 200717 yr In person, the rounded corner brick of Michigan Terrace looks more like 1950's blond brick. The picture above at no. 1 looks kinda peach colored or maybe it's just my eyes. Has anyone been able to get photos of the upper floor sections from any of the surrounding buildings? I remember even in the renderings they never completely showed what the upper floors looked like from outside. I thought the big spaces above the top floor windows/doors were for awnings, but I didn't see any up this summer.
October 23, 200717 yr Nice photos, Kev! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 24, 200717 yr I think Michigan Terrace is really nice but those houses with the garage in the front are a slap in the face to the houses bordering Wasson (i'm assuming it's those railroad tracks).
October 25, 200717 yr I don't know if those tracks are active. I've never seen a train on them, and the tracks are in pretty poor shape. Does anyone else know?
October 25, 200717 yr Definitely not active. The same tracks cross Edwards and then Madison. I don't believe there are even signals or gates. If there are, they are never used. Nice pics though. Wish I could say something good about Marburg Square or Mornington Place, but I can't.
October 25, 200717 yr wonderful job. i am not a fan of #1 mich terrace either. seems like a wasted opportunity to make something real nice on a great corner. it certainly aint bad, just disappointing, could be better. sure the houses in #16-18 are a bit strange, but at least they are well fit into the small lots, so what the hey? again it just comes down to taste. the rest are very nice. always love that fire station, very noo yorky-ish.
November 8, 200717 yr I was just at the Oakley Car Wash and they have one of those tall signs with removable letters that now says "We make it rain...on these cars"
