Posted October 29, 200717 yr anyone catch this crazy division III football comeback from saturday? it rivals the flutie hail mary and the stanford band games. its absurd, it's amazing -- checkr out: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/ncaa/10/28/trinity.lateralapalooza.ap/index.html
October 29, 200717 yr holy crap!!! Here is the YouTube link that still works: [youtube=425,350]AkR9D4W1g8A
October 29, 200717 yr I don't think it compares to the other endings you mentioned (nor does it compare to the Music City Miracle or the Boise State ending last year) due to the relative insignificance of it and the absurdity of it. The other plays were somewhat more planned (except for the Cal/Stanford ending but thats special because of the band) and seemed less backyard-ish to me...
October 29, 200717 yr That Michigan v. Oregon (or was it Nebraska...can't remember) game could have been one for the ages if only there wasn't that one guy in the way of the Michigan player. I couldn't believe my eyes when I was watching that final play unfold live.
October 29, 200717 yr I had forgotten about that until you just reminded me....yeah that was unreal too
October 29, 200717 yr i think the non-monumentalness and the non-plannedness is what makes this one a classic in its own right (well ok, maybe just a youtube classic). first of all its gotta be thee longest play ever, it goes on and on forever. but mostly its the combination of the desperation of trinity wanting it so bad and the exhausted millsaps team looking like they are just whatever about it and standing around that makes it hilarious. the fact that it looks like a meaningless high school game is just an added bonus...as is the amateurish announcing (i thought the guy was going to say, "oh the humanity" at one point - lol!).
October 29, 200717 yr I thought the announcing was accurate. Wasn't the familiar voices we hear on the major Networks...
October 31, 200717 yr It said it was a 61 yard TD. I wonder how many yards they all ran total to get the 61 yards..lol
