i'm trying to help some one get a rock star autograph or pic.

 

any idea if the q stage door is outside or underground? where exactly would the "talent" enter the arena? where exactly should they hang around to try to catch them coming in?

 

thx if you know or have any specific tips.

I've seen former Cavalier and current FSN anchor, Austin Carr enter the building from that parking garage just east of the Arena on East 6th and Huron.

there is an underground entrance from the parking deck next to the Q.  i believe that buses / vips enter from e9 to the small street that runs between the thirsty parrot jacob's field and go down a ramp.  there is usually heavy security in this area and i believe the players park here as well, so i don't think you'll be able to get close.

 

depending on the show and what they are doing later, many of the performers stay at the Ritz.  i've found that is the best place to get something signed or to talk with someone. 

Honestly, the best place to do this is at sound check.  I have gotten access to tons of musicians at, just before or just after sound check.  Security is usually very light if not non-existent if there isn't an actual show going on.

I would agree with this.  Last year during the Eastern Conference Finals, I happen to have a friend in town staying at the Ritz.  The entire TNT TV crew was staying there and I saw Rip Hamilton and a few other people who were most likely "posse" members of other Detroit players.  Someone else staying there told me they saw Billups and Sheed the night before.  So I might scout out the hotel bar.
