A Cincinnati house has been included in HomeVestors' Ugliest House of the Year contest.

609 Steiner Avenue, in Sedamsville, is among 10 other houses chosen from hundreds of photos submitted by HomeVestors franchisees.

Voting is open until November 15, with only one vote allowed per visitor. The winner will be announced in December.

The house, which was built around 1885, was purchased by HomeVesters in September for $3,000.

Surprisingly, it is not condemned, but it has generated some civil fines for the previous owner.

There is no word on when the Ugliest Signs and Billboards contest will commence.

It may be really run-down, but some of that garage-o-centric trash you used to feature in "They're Building Such CRAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPP!!!!" is far uglier to my eye...

...although those windows smack up against the corner is pretty atrocious...

Yeah, that doesn't look too bad. I think their focus is more on buildings being ugly because they are run down, not is design/form.

Yeah, looking at the other entries, you're definitely right...some of the houses look fine, just falling apart...

I don't think its that hidiouse, it sure as hell prettier than most things being built today.

It would probably make a nice restoration.

beats this 800px-Mcmansion_under_construction.jpg

^Once they paint the brick, there won't be anything wrong with it (assuming you have no problem with infinite gables or suburban house designs).

Here's another nomination for Paxton Ave., it's at 1335.  This house has always bothered me.  It has sold 4 times since 1991 and no one seems to want to put the top back on the turret.  I have no idea what happened to it.  I haven't been by this house in a few years, so I don't know if it's been corrected yet, but I doubt it.  The following 3 photos are from CincyMLS:

^^ that house is far from hidiouse(though it would look much nicer if the turret was restored).

How do they pick these houses?

How do they pick these houses?

Apparently their franchisees in the field submitted photos, which were sorted through and narrowed down by a designated panel back at the home office.  I don't know who these people are or how they were selected, though.

Those houses are not ugly, just run down...Personally, I like the Dallas & Philly houses...I have always had a soft spot in my heart for A-Frames...

Neat idea, but architecturally and aesthetically, these houses are no different than a million others...

seriously, most of these aren't ugly, just dilapidated......

(yes, i know i'm just repeating everyone else)
