Alright, so as I did some cleaning this weekend. I came across some photos I took from back in the day (like 1999 - give or take three years) when I used a camera that had this odd material in it - I think it's called "film"? Anyhoo, I scanned in the pics I took, (a lot from the top of Key Tower) and they're pretty random but what the heck - enjoy:

Nice.  I totally forgot what hell Euclid Avenue was.  Seeing WoolWorth's and that old Jeans West store along with the Union Eye Car store, Radio Shack and Mr. Hero's brought back some memories. 

 

I've only been to stonebridge twice and from these pictures and being there, that area has changed dramatically. 

 

The Arcade is also different Its nice to see the progress from just '99 to now.  Lots of renovations and restorations.

 

What is happening at the Federal building?  Is it being enlarged? I think I'm confused as I thought it was being renovated and that there is the potential for a new building in the EFB project?  Am I totally off base?

 

How did you gain access to the upper level of Key Tower, those picture from 58 are cool.

 

The Terminal Tower looked really bad.  Maybe FC can get some of the kids that they are barring from the mall to help with the restoration and cleaning?  :?

I read somewhere that Higbees and May Co buildings are (were) among the largest department stores, based on physical size, in the States.

FH2H, the Federal Building isn't being enlarged - the western plaza (facing East 6th) is being reworked into an "urban forest" (whatever that means). I know that the interior has been rehabbed for quite some time. The GSA (people who call the shots for DFAS/Federal Building) decided that they'd rather work with what they have than build new.

 

I was able to go to the 57th floor thanks to a friend, fellow forumer Paul_In_Cleveland - he knew someone at KeyBank who arranged for us to go to 57 (the last official office floor). When we got to 57, the security person said "if you'd sign a waiver, we can let you outside" - outside meaning where the pyramid starts - aka the only people usually out there are the window washers. Had the Key logos been installed, we could have reached up and touched them :-o Needless to say, they don't let people do that any more and it was absolutely an amazing experience.

Thanks for clearing that up. Sometimes its very hard for me to visualize sections of the city or certain buildings as the last time I spent any significant time in the Cleveland 1988.  The area where Stonebridge is currently totally confuses me as does East 4th.  Although I've been down East 4th street, in my mind all I can see is the Chinese wig shop, Wendy's and Vogue beauty academy.  I guess I need to get up to snuff and pay more attention to the photo threads.

True, could someone be convinced to take pictures of Euclid, from Tower City to CSU today, so that when the ECP is complete we could look back and see changes.
