Stone Soup Café has opened on Xenia Avenue, in Dayton’s Twin Towers neighborhood.

They had a grand opening art and music show, put on by the Circus arts group.  I found out about this quite by accident as a waitress at the Oregon Express told me about a week or two ago.  Since I am doing some research on the Xenia Avenue area I was interested to see this, so decided to check it out.

St Marys is the landmark on Xenia Avenue…the twin towers.

Passage takes you up to the blurry room (wish I had a better pix of this space)

Wish I had more pix of this guy, “The Story Teller”, a rapper who also performed over at the Circus’ Urban Nights event at the Cannery. I think I mentioned at my post on the Cannery event that I appreciated his approach to rap.

The next few are of two guys from the Dayton rock group Shrug doing an acoustic set.  I was really taken by their performance for some reason.  Everything just clicked right.

The girl sitting on the chair taking pix is that waitress who told me about the event, Kitty (I think).  Unlike me she is a real photographer, and was showing tonight, too.

A warm fresh breeze coming in through the door, fluttering the big US flag outside, while the band played…

Very cool looking place! Reminds me of the Highlands Coffee Shop in Corryville.
