A friend of mine from the south that is for a CSA revival sent me this. Yes, this is a real website and they are serious ... but I think it's funny as hell.

"Many in the south have noticed an increase in the number of immigrants, especially from the state of Ohio. Not since the years after the Second War of Independence (the War of Northern Aggression) have so many Yankees brought their way of life and horrible driving so far south. They stay far longer than the allotted welcome generally tendered to seasonal tourists. They take our jobs and harass our women. They also take up all the parking at the beach and try rather ineptly to surf (Ohio kooks are the worst of all). We understand that there are no doubt good reasons to leave Ohio (see the Ohio facts section), but everyone needs to develop some sort of pride in their beginnings, however humble or terrible. All we ask is that they return from whence they came.

This site exists to capture the South Carolinian coastal mentality that those from Ohio should return. Give us some feedback and tell us how you feel.  Send your support or hate mail to [email protected]. If it’s creative, we’ll post it on the blog. Responses are welcome in the comments section of each post on the blog."

Can we make a trade!?  I would love to send all their hillbillys back!!

That's right people. SURF OHIO

Can we send those bad Buckeye drivers back over the border too? :)

haha, I know quite a few people that have made that great migration.  But mostly to North Carolina.

I noticed north carolina more than sc.  I was at a suburban chain bar in the exurbs of charlotte nc visiting my family.  The ohio state michigan game was on.  I would not have known that I was in north carolina if not for the liscence plates in the parking lot.

It sounds like they are talking about vacation/resort areas that are seeing people move down permanently.  Probably not many people from our perspective, but alot from theirs.

its not exactly the first place ohioans have overrun.

besides that, atlantic surfing is inept in general.

Ha ha... too funny.  Ohioans infecting the south like the plague.

I'm sure folks from NC, Texas, Arizona, Florida, and many, many, MANY other states could say the same.

Sure Ohioans have overrun a lot of areas...but no more so than other states like New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan and the New England area.  I mean really...NYers have essentially taken over large swaths of south Florida.

If NYers were to leave florida, Half the state would be for sale!!! Property values would plummet, More than they have already.

There must be some Ohioans in Florida. After years of wintering there, my parents built a house near Englewood in the late 1980s. All the streets in their subdivision were named after Ohio rust-belt towns; they lived on Steubenville Drive.

Steubenville Drive?  That can't be good for the property values.

"Over the Rhrine Parkway"... Nope ;)

Naples is pretty much all Columbusites.

Destin, FL is almost entirely Ohioans...and more specifically it is a LARGE chunk of Cincinnati Westsiders (even more specifically from Delhi Twp).

New Yorkers refer to South Florida as "suburban NY."  :-)

Now that I think of it, Sarasota also has a large number of Columbusites. The west coast of Florida is has a lot of Midwesterners, while the east coast has many East Coasters. I-75 vs. I-95, I suppose.

Idunno, West Virginians are the ones who refer to Myrtle Beach as "the beach".  As in, "me and the family are heading to the beach next week."

I hope they're not confusing West Virginians w/ Ohioans though.  That would be the ultimate slap in the face.

the nyer's are in the se corner, mostly palm, broward and dade. the ohioans are on the middle west side of the state.

funny timing my mother and her hub left today to drive down to snowbird on the ne coast of florida. somehwhere below daytona, i forget where i have to check my email. they stayed in cocoa beach last winter so i guess they like it around there.
