Classic-revival mansion

Overlooking neglected pastures and hay fields, this classic-revival mansion stands outside a city whose goal in the 1990s was quite paramount: historic preservation. Unfortunately, this gem was overlooked and it stands abandoned, with furniture resting against the walls on the inside, appliances still plugged in in the kitchen and curtains that flap in the wind. It was last used in 1963.

I believe that this is also a house with classical-revival details, dating back to the 1820s, based upon photographs of similar houses with descriptions in the region.

1. The front of the house shows a collapsing front portico. The interior of the structure seems intact.

5. Rusted iron top and bottom sills are visible.

6. A western and southern profile showing deterioration of the roof, especially on the western fringe. Remnants of a blue tarp can be seen upon closer inspection, indicating that the owner was at one point attempting to save the roof.

7. A rear addition is still in good condition, with the interior cluttered with old 1950s-era appliances, rotary telephones and papers. Little water damage is apparent on the interior.

Enjoy this glimpse into the past!

Were those shot with a warming polarizer?  I'm not on my normal computer so I can't tell for sure.

Yes. These were also shot very early in the morning, so there is a very warm hue. I'm actually correcting for that on my photos from later in the day by reducing the temperature from 6800 to ~5500 and less.
