Posted November 26, 200717 yr Got back to Detroit for Thanksgiving and spent a good chunk of Friday walking off the Tofurky down at the freaking awesome Detroit International Riverfront promenade. We got there early and the air temp was a bit on the bitey side. But by the time we were heading home, crowds were beginning to form. Good show, Detroit! Fu*k the crime rankings: this is a most dangerously cool downtown project. Have banners, will find way. Hope you like sunshine and blue water. The boy, showing off the sleek, slumber-friendly park benches. She's finally starting to grow on me: Now imagine it with a gajillion people: Winter Garden, looking out: Inside the Ren Cen, SANTA!!!!!!!! Feels like winter, looking in: Meanwhile, ships the size of Downtown Columbus amble on by: Ladies and gentlemen: Flock of--oh never mind: Five beauties crowding in for the shot. I'll take 'em all. Off into the hazy, sulfuric, sunset. The end.
November 26, 200717 yr Im about 90 percent sure I'm going to the car show again this year. Looking at those pics of the riverfront brings back some memories. :)
November 26, 200717 yr What? A trip to Detroit and no abandonments? :( But the city does look nice. Hopefully the riverfront will become more utilized as the mixed-use projects north of the Renaissance Center come on-line.
November 26, 200717 yr Nice! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
November 26, 200717 yr Slumber-friendly? Are those arm rests removable? Because I'm taller than your son.
November 26, 200717 yr ^ There's a big enough gap since the arm rest doesn't go all the way back. And the homeless have taken advantage of that, although I see a lot non-homeless people napping along the promenade during breaks in the summer. Now imagine it with a gajillion people: Okay! Believe it or not, the GM Plaza gets fairly heavy usage year round since so many events are held around there. I'm happy Detroit has scored two in a row with creating good public spaces recently..one of them being 4th best in the nation.
November 30, 200717 yr Shouldn't those seagulls be south of the Mason-Dixon line by this time of year??? Nice work on the photos... seems like a pleasant enough place.
