November 26, 200717 yr Harlem has the best residential (well, all of Hamilton Heights and those places) in Manhattan. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
November 26, 200717 yr raise the roof! nice. cant wait to see more pics from you. cdm is 1000% correct on the residential housing -- your 1st 2 pics say it all. we promise to ignore the new crap and the dubious office/pj towers.
November 27, 200717 yr Harlem has the best residential (well, all of Hamilton Heights and those places) in Manhattan. Striver's Row, Sugar Hill & Manhattan Avenue have some amazing buildings and totally under appreciated.
November 27, 200717 yr ^That view down 125th is fantastic. Would those townhomes be a accurately described as Italianate?
November 27, 200717 yr ^That view down 125th is fantastic. Would those townhomes be a accurately described as Italianate? Harlem has many style of brownstones. For instance MTS brownstone (i think greco/English) and the his next door neighbor (Italianate/Victorian) are obviously from two different period brownstones and by different builders. Local history has it that people who wanted to build homes but couldn't afford a well known architect, would hire students or those who had never built anything which would result in a mix of housing styles and periods in one home. most of these homes whimsical signatures (masks or flowers) as you'll see in a future thread.
November 28, 200717 yr Neat stuff. I don't think the overcast day hurt your photos at all; That kind of light fills in shadows and yields denser colors.
November 28, 200717 yr Great pictures. Harlem looks very nice. I want a brownstone of my own. Breakout your checkbook, for a small fortune and your soul, you too can own a brownstone.

December 16, 200717 yr Snapped a few shots in the way to the gym. I, like Hayward, didn’t want to get out of bed or leave the house. I thought we would have more snow, but it appears that we will not see bad weather for another eight hours or so. First snow of the season in Marcus Garvey Park. Quite a difference from a few weeks ago. Streets and sidewalks are pretty clear - for now Hale House www.halehouse.org Hale House provides care for children who's parents are addicted to drugs. The White House recognized Mrs. Hale as a “real American Hero”. Random Photos the Po-Po Station. It's like an ugly 70's bunker. I bet that would make a great club! This new building seems to have “popped” up and was built on an existing low rise building.
