Posted November 30, 200717 yr Hyde Park Hyde Park once had a beautiful red brick, red tile roof Carnegie Library designed by New York architect Edward L. Tilton who designed a number of Carnegies across the country. Unfortunately, the building was ruined with new brick, removal of the pediment, installation of a new porch, and asphalt shingles in the 1970's. BOOO!!! :-( One of my favorite buildings in Cincinnati Mt. Lookout
November 30, 200717 yr New brick on the library? Did they just brick over the old brick, or do a painstaking removal? Unsure on what you mean.
November 30, 200717 yr I don't know how they did it, but the front section is not the original brick. Carnegie Libraries of Ohio says "the facade was removed."
