^^Side question, membership will get you in all the locations, even the potential OC one?  correct?

^^I was also thinking that by being on the Prospect side of things, you will have high visibility from everyone who goes ^^to the Cavs and Indians games.  Another HUGE marketing plus.

Eh, as of now I thought about allowing memberships to be transferable for a certain number of days each month maybe, 5-10, I do not want people outsmarting the system by driving to Mentor to pay a less expensive rate and using the 668 location all of the time.  This will be the case for as long as the prices vary with the locations

Oh, sorry. We will have 8 tanning beds.  I have great beds in the Mentor location.

I'm not too sad about the visibility from the Cavs/Indians games either.  People will be able to grab a nice smoothie on their way to the game.

It is I that must offer thanks.  I have gotten tons of information that helped weigh my decision to move to the 668 project from this site.

How awesome is that?

Congratulations on the lease, tripspapa! This is truly exciting news, and we're happy to have you join us in the Cleve.

Quick question: Will Titan Up Cafe (hey! I just got that!) have its own dedicated space and entrance, or will this simply be a smaller space within the footprint of the gym, like the juice bar at 1-2-1? I ask because I have an existing gym membership for the time being, but I (and I'm guessing other forumers) would love to support the project (and get access to healthy food, too). I'm just not quite clear as to whether this will be a full-service restaurant that is semi-automonomous to the gym or a limited-service snack bar primarily for members.

Holy cow do you people post things quickly.  I talked to Michelle 10 minutes before I posted...

This site puts the Plain Dealer to shame, I would pay to access this site versus pay for the peedee

Rich...thats a excellent Idea...Have you agent DanB work on that.  LOL.  The fee could be $3 per month!

Titan Up Cafe is actually a totally different entity from Titans Gym.  My wife and I opened the origional one in February of 2008 in a space right next to Titans that was vacant.  It is a fully operational restaurant.  My wife has a masters degree in nutrition from Case Westunatern and has designed the whole menu to be healthy and filling at the same time.  We offer a wide array of egg white omeletes, salads, chicken/turkey/tuna wraps and a ton of vegitarian selections(my wife is a vegan).  The menu is on the website http:///www.titanupcafe.net

We also have a ton of smoothies!!!

My storefront is divided by a stairwell going down(gotta get downstairs) that gives me about 35 feet of store frontage on one side of the stairs and about 25 on the other.  If one were to enter the facility from Prospect, the Cafe will take up the 25 of the 35 feet to the left going about 40 feet deep.  If one were to walk straight in from the doors and go about 30 feet the main reception desk for the gym will be there. I of course wanted to take advantage of the foot traffic on Prospect.  One will be able to enter the gym thru either the prospect enterance or from the "Historic Hallway"(awesome btw).  The hallway bisecting the building will be walled with glass on both sides you as you walk down you can see into everything.  The first floor of the gym will have the main cardio area, the Cafe, the tanning rooms, and the very cool aerobics room.

that layout sounds very sensible in many respects

i'm guessing your wife is the lone female personal trainer you list on your site?

will you offer tours/photos of the completed gym once it is up and running?  i am actively looking for a gym as well

Yes, my wifes info is on the web site.  We actually have 1 other female trainer and are waiting for one other aerobics instructor to get certified to train.  Titans is very trainer friendly and we look to have a wide range of both male and female trainers downtown.  Being a trainer myself, I make it very easy for other trainers to run their business out of my facility.

One of the exciting things we will be doing is hooking up with http://www.virtualrabbit.com who specializes in doing virtual tours.  I am hoping to have one up of the Mentor location within the month and we will forsure have one for 668.  Tours of the facility will always be available, no appointment needed.  I am sure all of you will find that I dislike the typical "gym" treatment of waiting around for a sales person and going thru the same routine and then sitting through a sales pitch and price cutting, blah blah blah.  My goal is to have a product that sells itself as I have in Mentor.  Any of my staff will be able to give you a tour and sign you up when you LOVE the facility.  There will be no fancy sales pitch

Thanks Tripspapa! I'm so at the cafe! And I think you'll find you just made several forumers happy about providing a vegan- and vegetarian-friendly menu downtown ... you might actually want to cross-post the news in the recently created thread about that very topic. Congrats again and can't wait to be a patron!

Oh, btw, have you guys figured out hours for the cafe? I would love to get in the habit of swinging by after working out, but I wouldn't usually get there until 7 p.m. or so. Thanks again!

I am crushed the Moda gym did not work out. I make do in a condo gym, but having lost 15 pounds  since the beginning of the year (woohoo) I am now getting very bored with the offerings. Still I refuse to join a downtown gym where I would either have to pay for parking or take the bus to go -as if. I don't need any excuses to not work out. Anyway welcome! Maybe one day you will expand to Moda.

^you don't have to pay for parking at the downtown Y and it is a very nice facility although not cheap.

good to know, thanks. Do you know if you can use the other Y facilities in the area? I was a Y member in tampa and loved going to different Y's depending on where I was, or if I needed to change things up.

^I am pretty sure you can.

Yes, membership at the Downtown YMCA gives you access to any other YMCA within a 50 mile radius.  (I used to be a member.)

If you belong downtown, you can use any branch for free.  If you belong to a suburban YMCA, and want to work out downtown, there is a $5 surcharge per visit.  But an adult membership downtown is $660 a year, whereas a suburban membership is $420-$456 depending on location.

We have not worked out a exact date.  Currently the K&D temperary rental office is in the front part of my space.  It is my understanding they can not move into the Euclid side until October.  Once they are moved over construction can begin in full force.  I think we can begin some work in the downstairs portion of and the back portion during the mean time, but we have to work out some specifics.  We are hoping to be open in the first quarter of 2010, hopefully closer to January.

I need to start running the stairs more....

Is this authentic terra cotta being used or some sort of imitation?  Obviously the new material is far lighter than the old; will it all be cleaned to match much closer?

Window installation on the eastern portion of 668 facing the parking lot where the Hippodrome used to be is moving along. They only have the top 2 and a half floors left to put in.

I was in 668 yesterday to look my apartment and to take some measurements:)

I will be moving to Prospect side on 15th of August which will probably make me the first tenant in the apartment!

Here are some facts:

  • The apartment is still an hard hat area, although the second floor on Prospect side is almost finished, requiring carpeting on the hallways and cleaning!
  • My suite is ready by all means (appliances, HVAC, carpeting, painting...), just had some minor cosmetic correction needs.
  • The ceilings are 10-foot high and the windows are 100'x50'!
  • The property manager Jill said that, leasing center will move to Euclid side at the end of October to let Titan's Gym to start construction.
  • IMPORTANT: Jill also stated that, 450-space parking garage will be used by both Euclid & Prospect side tenants of the building. The Euclid side garage entrance, which was revealed by the drawings, is just a ~100-car space and will be used by Wyse agency (and maybe Zig?)
  • The atrium of the building would be great.
  • There is model of the building in the leasing office and I saw that there were 1-bedroom suites with individual patios on the Euclid side, which look terrific.
  • Suites are wired for LAN, with Ethernet outputs in the living room and the bedroom for easy home networking (if you need wired networking anyways) The bad thing is TWC would be the only provider for cable/internet right now, but Jill is trying to get a deal for new tenants. She said U-Verse may be the second provider but not without majority of people start living. Satellite is not an option, obviously.

These are some stuff worth mentioning, I will add if something comes to my mind.

sweetie, next time get pictures.

I may not be able to get pictures until my next visit, which would be 15th of August  :-D

Do you think it will be a dusty, messy, noisy mess while construction resumes as residents get in the place? How was that looking?

The second floor, which I'll be moving in, will be finished by any means by 15th of August. So I assume no dust/dirt can enter the suites. In addition to that, I believe I will enter the building from the finished parking garage.

ON THE OTHER HAND, the entrance of the building is real messy, I should say that. Also, I am not positive about the noise of the construction, we'll see :-D

Just thinking.. The more I hear this name "Residences at 668 Euclid" I think how generic and lazy is it to not come up with something that actually might pay tribute to the history of the building! Wasn't this place called "Taylor's?" Geezz.. at least something wit the name in it.. "Residences At Taylor Village" Anything but RA668E. Then in Cin..  "The Residences at 2801 Erie Ave." or something like that... I wonder if such is a standard name given to any complex for which no one wanted to think of a better name...

^Wow- kind of funny.  They actually have the Convention Center in TWO wrong places.

website is not working.  humm

Looking at the floorplan, is there only one elevator for all the apts?  I thought there would have been one for the Prospect side and one for the Euclid.

There are stairs on the Prospect side and I believe there are elevators on the Euclid side, too.

By the way Prospect side elevators are on the hallway.

Silly question, but does anyone happen to have the dimensions of the doorways that lead into the apartments?

I'm purchasing some furniture and need to know if the couch will fit through the doorway. I supposed the only people who would have this is someone who has rented an apartment and did some measurements...or the property manager, and I don't want to call her for this.

Call that is what she is there for.  Also, if the furniture you ordered is coming from a store, their delivery people should be able to get it in the apartment.  Now, reserving the freight elevator, etc. is a different story.

I would call to get all the particulars.

I am really positive the doorway is standard as 80 x 36 inches.

Thanks lion!

Those pictures of Cleveland they flash off the home page are amazing!  Great website overall, minus the plug for a Forest City medical Mart. HA!

^They're also very outdated - the first (overly Photoshopped stock image that's used everywhere) shows Key Tower minus the Key logo (which looks better, but it's not current). The skyline shot following is nice but again, no Key logo and no Federal Courthouse tower. Tsk tsk tsk - wonder who could help them with such a dilemma? ;-)

Hey all,

I'm scheduled to move into Six Six Eight soon and came across this comment near the end of the most recent Plain Dealer Article on the Project:

"I work on a construction crew that is in the process of building these. We are all hoping that they get the roof fixed pretty soon because the amount of water that is in these apartments would make you sick. I could show you pictures of water lines 3 inches up the wall molding...and speaking of wall molding...do you know what happens to drywall when it gets wet and doesn't have any sun to dry it out...that's right...MOLD. I don't know if it's the bad BLACK MOLD, but there is BLACK MOLD in about 75% of all the apartments on the Prospect side of these apartments. We are starting to drywall the second and third floors of the Euclid side and there is still water coming in on the eight floor of the building...drywall is soaked. The floor is soaked. EVERYTHING IS SOAKED. I can promise you that a year from now, there will be people getting sick who live in these apartments. Cleveland Construction Company that is the general contractor of this project has done a good job of spraying a little bleach on the walls and re-painting them, the problem, however, is inside the walls...I don't know who doesn't want to spend the money to have some of the drywall ripped out, dried out properly and re-installed...Whether it is the K&D Group or Cleveland Construction...One of them need to take some pride in the job and do it right instead of cheap and possibly making alot of people very sick."

Needless to say, I'm a little bit concerned.  Perhaps this issue should be raised with the property manager.  It might benefit all of us to get some assurances before moving in.

Or it's some typical scumbag that has nothing better to do than attempt sabatage a good downtown project.

It doesn't hurt to bring up with building management, but it sounds a little strange. I cannot imagine that K&D would let mold problems persist unchecked. I would also imagine that, if confirmed, this would show up in the Plain Dealer. Again, doesn't hurt to check out the story's validity, but it sounds like a smear campaign to me. Rival property owner? Union picketers? Federal agents? :)

Hopefully its not true, although worth checking out since K&D has a bit of a reputation for cutting corners.

Thats what I thought.

100% agree.  When don't I agree with you well thought out post?

Agreed

If we're going to take this seriously, we need two things:  1) A statement from K&D or a K&D agent that the company has no knowledge of the presence of mold in any of the units, or that mold was ever present in any of the units, and that none of the drywall was ever exposed to water; and 2) A guarantee from K&D or a K&D agent as to the compensation that would be given and/or remedial measures taken to address any mold problem that might develop.

Who volunteers?

Looks like you're the "volunteer" as you brought this issue.

I am not sure if Ohio law requires landlords to disclose mold. It is true in other states, but I'm not familiar with Ohio law.

Here's a template document for mold disclosure.

Yes.  You must disclose a "hazard" such as mold, lead, etc.  My parents have in rental leases.

However, my parents aren't "commercial landlords" or "developers".  Commercial landlords, building owners/managers, developers may have different rules and regulations.

Now this topic has an interesting route:)

I am looking forward to seeing what is going on... And I am willing to take any action necessary IF everybody will act together. I don't want to be the only person who does that...
