I hope the convenient store will not sell lottery or brown bag booze.

I disagree, they should sell whatever their customers are requesting, which most likely will be the residents at 668, that can make a profit.  If they want lottery tickets and booze then so be it, if they want tofu and organic milk so be it.  The propritor should be able to choose his wares that will result in a profit for his venture.

Then if you want more panhandling, loitering and the walks tattered with litter..........so be it! we already have scores of that type of store.

Where is the catering to those who actually would buy more quality goods like freshly baked breads, produce, or things that sustain the daily needs of the home? I just see an imbalance of the former type of store versus the latter.

Stop.

That cornice is stunnning!

^ The top...the cornice and the front of the top.....this will be a true floor, right? Not a facade? This is the area where more suites will be, no?

yes. the penthouses.

The selling of these items does not indicate that these actions will take place.  Panhandeling, Loitering and Littering likely will happen no matter what item is sold.  It could just as easily be a bag from a loaf of bread or apples that is carelessly thrown to the ground.  Placing blame for these actions on the store owner/operateror is extremly shortsighted and reactionary.  Being a former owner/operator yourself I would think you would realize that it is not the store that is causing these actions, but the induvidual.

i'm done go on your rants about littering and noise elsewhere.

Stop.

sigh...

^ I answered this in a personal email. The response is totally irrational.

MOVING ON.....

Thank you for the pics FrqntFlyr! It's looking great. I can't wait for the penthouses to be finished.

Construction is supposed to start this week on the Titans space, or should I say demolition first as they have to demo the space being used as the temp leasing office and CCI offices.  I will probably be going down often to check on the progress they are making on the space and i can get some inside pics.  what would you like them of?

Caddyshack opens this month, but there is no convienence store as caddyshack rented the other store front opposite Titans.  the caddyshak space is very cool and should be a fun place to hang out, grab a drink, and hit some golfballs with your buddies.  they also have 4 wii stations.

as for the titans space, it looks great and now, i can not wait for you all to see it when things start and are done.  it will be great!  the aerobics room overlooking the atrium is beautiful.  i think i can answer some questions if anyone has any.

My wife and i are going to be renting an apartment for sure down there.  she loved them as soon as she saw the model.  they are great and very spacious.

It's rather weird.  The old Taylor's Dept store sat crumbling for years and became part of the urban fabric.  Then the scaffolding went up and Euclid was limited, traffic-ise as a result, and you noticed it... Now that the scaffolding is gone and Euclid's back to normal,  668 seems ... like it's been there in this exact condition, all the time... That said, it looks nice if a tad bit staid... I it meshes well with the restored Euclid streetscape, even though I'm still trying to visualize how the torn-down Dollar Bank building space is going to fit in... I've heard great things about the units and that there are some unnamed pro athletes already leased... Caddyshak sounds cool, esp to this part-time duffer; as an "active" place, like Corner Alley, that features something fun and out of ordinary (see: not the usual sit-on-your-ass sports bar-ish type joint downtown has in abundance)... I'm hearing that the number of units in 668 is making the place huge by downtown standards, esp for Gateway (or maybe I read this earlier in the 37 previous pages of this thread I'm simply too lazy to thumb back thru)...

All in all, 668 is much welcomed and will surely juice what is already the hottest, rising part of downtown.  I hope both the Euclid & Colonial Arcades, which are lovely (esp the Colonial) really benefit from 688, and that we can get a nice restaurant to fill Indigo's old, still empty space.

Isnt that the space where the Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame/Museum restaurant going?

Tripspapa,

Sounds great and we definitely look forward to your space!  Just so you know, you have another person here who is interested in joining.

Good Luck with everything!

Thank heavens - the sidewalk in front of 668 is once again open to the world! Now that the attractive scroll decoration above the arcade roof is exposed, it looks like it's two-tone.  I'd like to think this will remain and it's based on the original terra-cotta decorative effect; is there someone out there involved with the preservation efforts who would know if this is to resemble the original terra cotta.  That facing did often have pronounced colored accents in it, though we have little of that around Cleveland.

It's the second biggest residential building downtown after Bridgeview.

I took a slight detour out of downtown this morning to take a good look at 668.  Earlier posters are correct that the pictures, while greatly appreciated of course, don't do justice to the detail and craftsmanship the naked eye can see on the new/old facade.

Even more than Reserve Square?  I suppose RS may look bigger than it actually is.  Is there any stats out there on # of units in the various downtown buildings for comparison's sake.

^Isn't half of Reserve Square a hotel now?  In any case, even aside from unit count, 668 gets my vote for most impactful residential project downtown.  Can't wait for the street level stuff to be finished.

Wondering what that shed is doing inside the retail frontage on Euclid.  Part of the advertising agency that's going in there?  Very out of place regardless.

All of those odd house / shed type structures are part of Wyse... weird.

I am of the mindset to wait and see what something is like until it is completely finished. And then come to some sort of conclusion on it.

Much like McCleveland implores us all to be.

I intend to move to the 668 at some point.

But I must say, if construction were to end today and 1) that west wall looked like it does today and 2) those "sheds" looked like they do  at this moment... I would not be moving there.

But thankfully there are a few months to go. So we'll all see soon.

i am not sure what shed things you are talking about, but i have been in the Wyse space and it is beautiful.  i will be going there later in the week with the my contractor and i will swing over to look at these things and let you know.  i can tell you though, i doubt anything there is out of place.  the amount of detail the spent on everything at 668 is amazing.

Why would the "sheds" in a ground level commercial space and one outside wall impact your decision to move into the building?  Different priorities I guess...

Wyse current space at Landmark is beautiful and I would expect their new space to be built to the same level.  I can't wait to see the final product.

I can't see not moving there over it, either, but the shed idea is bizarre.  They've built mock up houses, which are people's individual offices.  The really strange thing is that it means that they took up a large amount of Euclid frontage, but they won't have any offices really facing onto the street itself.  Instead they have bunch of little mock house that front onto little aisles (do they call them "Cherry Lane/Maple Place/etc?), one of which happens to be the front window.

Sounds, and looks, like Home and Flower Show or County or State Fair exhibits....  Anyway, I'm so glad to see something decent in these windows, and the brick walk open and lane finally open to traffic!  It was a miserable impediment for vehicles and pedestrians so many months!

But it was a great source of funds for the City with all those traffic tickets of morons trying to scoot through on the bus lane.

Everyone drove through on those bus lanes, including the police.  I never saw anyone pulled over.

They removed the "DO NOT ENTER/BUSSES ONLY" sign a long time ago.

^I second that.  There was no reason that had to be a busses only lane.  Someone wised up and removed the restriction.

Everyone drove through on those bus lanes, including the police. I never saw anyone pulled over.

Well, I guess they must have removed the sign like the earlier poster said... because over the summer, I saw car after car get pulled over doing just that.

It was a nuisance for pedestrians, too.

What I love is that, in contrast with the gloriousness of the building they're in, these little huts employ tons of Cleveland's worst architectural meme:  corrugated aluminum.  That helps give it the vibe of a state fair agricultural exhibit.  Remember the "Street of Yesteryear" at COSI, back in the 80s?  This is the exact opposite.

From the article:

"Workers who previously spent their days in Tower City Center are leaving the office more, to explore the city and to return with take-out menus and stories about downtown businesses they'd never noticed before. "

As silly as this might sound for most of us, it shows the negative effect a "complex" or skyscraper can have on street activity.

I think it has more to do with having had nothing open for business outside of their complex or skyscraper.  That was largely the case until recent years.  The progress has been steady for ten years or so, but we've only just now started seeing anything resembling a critical mass.

I'll go with the expertise and progressive style of the Wyse people than any "observer". Looks pretty damn cool to me and a great and different environment to work in, maybe they are trying to get their people to think "Outside the Box"? No, that couldn't happen.

I think the Wyse space is very unique and quite nice.  I had a chance to visit their former office space on several occasions and found that space to be beautiful and very unique for the building they were in.  I didn't expect anything less from their new space.

People can complain about how it looks from Euclid all they want... it doesn't matter.  They're an advertising agency, so curb appeal is not their number 1 priority.  Would you rather see wall to wall cubicles?

The creativity of this project is phenomenal!!  I love the work atmosphere philosophy of Wyse space... Its all about encouraging collaboration.

I have to say that the Wyse space may be one of the worst interior fitouts I've ever seen, and as 327 said, adds no street level activity at all.  They could have done this in any suburban office park if they wanted to totally barricade themselves from the street.  It's all well and good that they took up this space, but I was hoping for something with a lot more street level engagement.

It's just awful in my opinion.

^ What would you have wanted from an advertising company?  They are not likely to get any walk in customers.  And I wouldn't say they are barricaded from the street, if they had stayed in the Skylight Tower that would be barricading themselves.  As the article stated they are leaving the office more and discovering the area, more than they ever did before.

What would you have liked to see them do?

Yep.  And they chose to stay downtown, so let's chalk that up as a win.

I finally got to see this scaffold-less beauty in person yesterday. It's absolutely beautiful. The shacks inside are a bit odd, but I don't hate them.

Walked by the Wyse space last night around 7 pm.  The interior barns fit in well with the Cadillac Ranch down the street.

there's only about 4 pictures here, but it's something:

I'm sure that K&D is lickings its chops after the Rosetta news. With the amount of young workers that this company has, it bodes very well for 668.
