Posted December 4, 200717 yr My only exposure to Sutherland came from listening to an mp3 of a cityclub talk she did earlier this year. She seemed OK I guess, but I'd much rather see her unseat Hagan than PLJ. Bay Village Mayor Sutherland to run for Cuyahoga County commissioner Tuesday, December 04, 2007 Joe Guillen Plain Dealer Reporter Cuyahoga County Commissioner Peter Lawson Jones jokingly pointed out the differences between him and Bay Village Mayor Deborah Sutherland when he sang a few bars of "Ebony and Ivory" earlier this year during a breakfast at the Greater Cleveland Partnership... December 5, 200717 yr Why? They're two separate races. Cimperman is seeking the District 10 Congressional seat, not a spot on the county commission. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
December 5, 200717 yr But the Commissioners' race is staggered, with Jones the only one running for re-election this year. That being said ... yeah, Dimora and Hagan may face some opposition in upcoming years.
December 6, 200717 yr My parents are still in Bay Village and say Sutherland is a horrible mayor that's screwed up basically every project she's taken on. I'm sure she'll fit right in with the Hagan and Dimora

December 6, 200717 yr well I don't know anything about the lady, but the PD sometimes picks some of the most inadequate drones or suck ups and gushes over them ad nauseum
December 6, 200717 yr Why? They're two separate races. Cimperman is seeking the District 10 Congressional seat, not a spot on the county commission. I'm sorry. I was confused. Thank you for correcting me. (exiting stage left) :|
December 6, 200717 yr I thought that she was highly-regarded. Hmm, maybe I'm wrong. I have to admit, my parents aren't the most political informed or plugged in individuals esp in regard to local government. They do have very strong (negative) feelings towards her, though. *shrug*
December 7, 200717 yr I have nothing against her, but not sure what she would bring to the county. If it's competence, then fine, let her replace Dimora or Hagan, not PLJ. If it's a stronger push for regionalism, I wonder if she'd do more good in a position of power in an outer suburb...like mayor of Bay.
October 30, 200816 yr I figure this is the best place for this question. I filled out my absentee ballot today, and I'm wondering why Tim Hagan is running unopposed for County Commissioner. It says for full term commencing 1/2/09. He is the only one listed. Right below this is the other county commissioner race. Is this a formality for something? I'm confused, please God tell me that he is not really running unopposed for another term! Of all the county commissioner the only one that should stay is PLJ. Somebody let me know what the heck this is all about.
November 5, 200816 yr Thank goodness PLJ was reelected. I still do not understand how Hagan ran unopposed. :wtf:
November 5, 200816 yr I really wish that the county would get some Republicans elected in there. I think a nice mix between the parties would be good, and I'm disappointed this didn't happen.

November 5, 200816 yr i abstained from that vote, i would have loved to have sent PLJ packing, but I really dislike sutherland.
November 5, 200816 yr No, not necessarily. You're right. It should always be more about the candidates themselves, not the party affiliation. But I do think that the Republican party has things to bring to the table that the Democrats don't. I don't ever want to see one party in control of everything, and I don't think that the Democrat stronghold that Cleveland has experienced for years is necessarily a good thing. But I guess that's because I'm a very middle-of-the-road voter. I like aspects from both parties, and I don't think either one is necessarily better than the other.

Before I answer that, how long have you personally been affected by the county commissioners? Haven't you been in NYC for some time? To me its down to every candidates integrity and leadership. I felt like he (PLJ) was the best commissoner. People say he let things happen right under his nose yet none of us know what really went down. The way the situation has gone down, it looks as though Fat Ass and Fat Ass II were conspiring in secrecy. If anything Hagan should not be there. i abstained from that vote, i would have loved to have sent PLJ packing, but I really dislike sutherland. Why do you feel he should have gone packing. You don't have to answer as your reasons are your reasons and I'll respect that. :)
November 5, 200816 yr Before I answer that, how long have you personally been affected by the county commissioners? Haven't you been in NYC for some time? So I can't comment on Cleveland politics? To me its down to every candidates integrity and leadership. I wasn't disagreeing with you.

It doesn't really, I guess. It affects me because I love Cleveland.

Last night Rangel thanked me for voting for him. When I told him I did not vote for him, he looked at me like I was crazy. I told him I'm a resident of OHIO. Not that I would have anyway. >:D
