Oddly, the traffic circle is at the end of the town, rather than the center.

Nice-looking town, elegant courthouse, and this is a great facade:

Nice pictures!

Of course I am biased, but I really like downtown Greenville more than most other towns this size. There are places to eat and do, and it is usually relatively busy with people and cars. Most of it is occupied. It is just a pleasant place.

Also, the first and second courthouses of Darke county was on public square (the circle), and it was the center of town.

Later, the city hall was there...

I think I posted these before but I like these postcards. These don't show it the best, but there used to be a trolley that ran down broadway and around the old city hall. Some hotographs (that I do not have right now) show it much better but...

Some nice looking infill, but what's with all the closed shutters?

Nice!

One of the best of the smaller Ohio county seats, IMHO.

  • 3 weeks later...

I remember when I went up there almost every weekend for "the cruising strip" when I was in my late teens. Nice town Greenville is!

Looks like a lot of civic pride in Greenville.  Nice collection of commercial buildings, and they all seem occupied.

Love the courthouse as well.
