Posted January 5, 200817 yr Returned to my old hometown of Columbus for the holidays... lots of fun projects happening downtown! First up... Gay St. Times Square!... I mean, Broad and High! Thanks for viewing! I <3 Columbus!
January 5, 200817 yr Indeed. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
January 5, 200817 yr Nice shots. Still not completely sold on all the advertising overkill at Broad & High. The scrolling signs are surprisingly interesting and innovative, but all that undersized boxy crap above, like Kroger, Huntington, Bud Light etc is just too much and looks junky. The housing at Gay and Fourth looks like it has possibilities. This instant neighborhood might pan out. At least it doesn't look cheap, and more people downtown is a plus.
January 5, 200817 yr Wow, I thought those were _static_ signs placed on the building until I saw different advertisments. Very catchy and innovative! But it looks a little cluttered on the corner. Spread the wealth :)
January 5, 200817 yr The Gay street townhouses do project quality. The Broad and High is kind of over-killish, but that's what I like about it. It's sort of like an updated version of the Dispath's freakishly out-of-scale roof sign.
January 5, 200817 yr Yup...lovin's those Gay Street townhouses. As for that grayish/blue thingee...not so much. Nice stuff LAsam.
January 5, 200817 yr Wow, some crazy stuff on that corner. It would be interesting to see that expand a bit around that whole area...
January 5, 200817 yr thx for coming home and showing us all this....the forumers who live there are such a lazy bunch! Nice shots. Still not completely sold on all the advertising overkill at Broad & High. The scrolling signs are surprisingly interesting and innovative, but all that undersized boxy crap above, like Kroger, Huntington, Bud Light etc is just too much and looks junky. thats what i think too. i suppose they will change the ads around on the top over time.
January 5, 200817 yr thx for coming home and showing us all this....the forumers who live there are such a lazy bunch! Oh yeah? Well...huh. This couch is comfy. So comfy. So... ZZZZZZZ
January 7, 200817 yr You know what I really like about that corner, more than anything else, is what it symbolizes for Columbus. It shows Columbus is starting to think of itself as a big city, not a small town. This kind of progressive thinking, I feel, will only benefit the city in the future.
January 7, 200817 yr I really like this building ... the colors more than anything. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h130/sgoldlondon/Ohio%20-%20Christmas/DSCN2288.jpg
January 8, 200817 yr Ok, one thing that bothers me. Why in the world would you plant things in the dead of winter. Won't they just die? I mean, they can't take root now can they?
January 8, 200817 yr Not really. I see the state transportation cabinet and places like UK doing some tidying up in the winter, by planting shrubs and grass seedlings mostly. You won't see flowers planted.
January 9, 200817 yr Ok, one thing that bothers me. Why in the world would you plant things in the dead of winter. Won't they just die? I mean, they can't take root now can they? I believe the trees on Gay Street were planted in late November/early December. Technically that's still Fall. And I've always heard that "Fall is for planting". We'll see at Springtime how they fared.
