Posted January 6, 200817 yr One of Cincinnati's holes, Norwood is one of Ohio's best urban (not necessarily desirable (at least by the masses)) suburbs. Completely surrounded by the City of Cincinnati, it seems much like just another neighborhood, but it's more than that. Norwood's freeway exits are now surrounded by gleaming office towers and new development, but Norwood has never lost its soul. To start, the Norwood most propably only identify with...Rookwood Commons The cheaper stores face Cincinnati  Buca is better You've heard of the Norwood eminent domain fiasco? And onto Floral Avenue, one of Norwood's best streets Park Avenue isn't bad either Famous for their terrorist trading cards... Hum Sharpsburg 1920 Crosley Avenue...my grandfather lived in this home from 1928 to 1938 Old St. Elizabeth School...my grandfather attended here for a few years Norwood's tallest building "downtown" Norwood High...now Norwood Middle Modern office building downtown The second story might be fake, but it is better than most Norwood's magnificent city hall, built in 1914 True density Norwood's two story Carnegie Library...two story's are very rare and a real treat for Carnegie enthusiasts Williams Avenue School...my grandfather attended here after leaving St. Elizabeth
January 6, 200817 yr I used to live in the building pictured above. All the way on the left 2nd floor above a small store. Also went to Williams right across the street. I remember celebrating the new year of 1990 here!
January 6, 200817 yr Great job! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
January 7, 200817 yr I just ate at Betta's this past weekend for the first time. I explored the area around Floral while I was there—what a place. I'm becoming more and more impressed with Norwood.
January 9, 200817 yr And to think...if it weren't for that eminent domain fiasco Norwood would quite possibly be the shopping epicenter for the Cincinnati Metro. That fiasco has allowed for the growth that Kenwood Towne Centre has seen over the past couple of years...that growth would have otherwise been in Norwood. Damn.
January 9, 200817 yr Yeahhh, my adopted home town. I walk my dog on floral all the time, and I always wonder about the history of the house in the 2nd to last picture. Anybody have any ideas on when and who it was built for. It looks like an antibellum mansion from the deep south. I love it.
January 10, 200817 yr ^I didn't want to get it confused with a suburb like Mariemont or Glendale that are both historic, urban, and desirable by the masses. Personally, I find Norwood much more desirable than both.
January 10, 200817 yr I think that Norwood is physically alright, but it is really gross in some parts too. Also, the population there can...uh, lean toward the gritty side. That's why I don't think it's all that desirable. But, keep in mind, that is just my opinion.
January 10, 200817 yr I love the old buildings of Norwood (churches, library, etc) and there are some really tacky houses there, but others that are gorgeous!
