Moving from Seattle to Cleveland (Mayfield Heights/Cleveland Heights Area)

Work Transfer - In need of short term lease/temporary Housing until we can move into a House. Have called and searched all over the internet for AFFORDABLE temporary housing (extended stay hotel prices, YIKES!!) Move is in 2 weeks!!

Family of 5 - can stay in a small apt/housing for a month or so - ANY IDEAS??!!

Does anyone know of any apartment complexes that offer short term leases? East of Cleveland Preferred so there is minimal commute - Cleveland or Mayfield Heights - area.

Much appreicated!!!

Thanks

Nikole ~

Yikes, good luck, but I don't think many apt owners are willing to rent to someone for only a month or two and then have to turn around and rerent that unit- that becomes alot of turn around cost.  You may be stuck with an extended stay hotel or "corporate housing".

Anyway, welcome to Cleveland!  What part of Seattle are you coming from?

Nikole where will you be working?  And I assume the kids will be starting school immediately?

That's a key question, because your kids have to go the public school in which you live. You can get around that by sending your kids to a paroachial school, but some have waiting lists.

As for a place to live, you might check:

It's in Cleveland Heights.

Also, some large apartment complexes might be willing to do short-term leases. For example the large Midtown Towers complex in Parma does this, but that's a long commute from the east-side heights area.

A similarly large apartment complex is the Marsol Towers in Mayfield Heights. Another is the Gates Mills Towers. Both of these have some problems (frequent turnover in management etc.). More highly rated by residents is Arbor Court, GrandView and Copper Tree, all in Mayfield Heights.

When one of my friends relocated to Cleveland, he stayed at one of the complexes across the parking lot from Beachwood Mall, but I can't remember which one - they had furnished corporate apts but I don't know how pricey.

Also, in Mayfield Village there's "The Village at Mayfield" has corporate rentals and deal with relocating Progressive employees a lot: http://www.thevillageatmayfield.com/

Check the Cleveland Clinic's housing bulletin for short-term housing (also good source for houses for sale by owner): http://www.clevelandclinic.org/education/gme/housing/default.asp

If you think you could live as faraway as Painesville/Mentor giveme a hollar.  25 minutes no traffic from downtown and probably 25 minutes from cleve hts no traffic as wll.  Depends on where you are planning on working.

thank you. I'm actually looking for some short term housing options for my in-laws and the Clinic page is very helpful.

Keep University Circle (east side of Cleveland, just down the hill from Cleveland Heights) in mind.  With the number of students and other non-traditional or seasonal tenants, there's always stuff opening up.  Plus, the neighborhood organization, University Circle Incorporated, rents apartments and a number of beautiful single-family homes: http://www.universitycircle.org/content/live_here.asp
