Posted January 15, 200817 yr Although Orrville has one of the worst city names in the state, its a pretty decent little town. Orrville's claims to fame are Smuckers (still headquartered in the city!) and Bobby Knight (although he was originally from nearby Massillon). I decided to make a detour for Orrville between Wooster and Massillon to get a look at the Orr Theater which Preservation Ohio reported is threated with demolition for a chain drug store. I thought I'd never find it. a or b? And two blocks away from downtown...finally the Orr

January 15, 200817 yr Been there, but it's been >20 years. Orrville is on the former PRR mainline and gets lots of freight traffic that moves through pretty fast. When I was there, they were working on the old depot to turn it into a museum. Neat building.
January 15, 200817 yr great work ink, i sorta like the orr. i have a funny story about orrville hs football. for some reason our hs used to play them in preseason practice games. they had a funny looking coach who was under five feet tall and round as he was tall. he was a screamer too. big deal, typical coach right? well here's the kicker. everytime someone on their team made a mistake, this coach yelled "warm me ups!" and the game stopped while everyone on the team got in a line and ran at the poor "schmucker" and gave him a pop. our team and coaches stood there slack jawed watching this. do i have to tell you what happened next? we would be killing them like 40-0 or whatever and everytime we crushed someone on a play we would stand over them and yell "warm me ups!" and howl with laughter. thankfully, later in the game the coach finally got the message and stopped that.
January 15, 200817 yr Being an aficionado of hole-in-the-wall bars, I would like to have a beer at this joint.
January 21, 200817 yr I lived about 10 miles from there for 14 months yet never once visited. I just never felt like making that detour off US30 between Wooster and Massillon. Looks like I missed out on an interesting collection of restaurants (Mrs. J's). With a name like Orrville, it's got to be good.
