Here are some of my favorite shots of ghost/faded signs in Cincinnati. All of them were taken in Over-the-Rhine. Please post yours and indicate the neighborhood they are from!

Apex Furniture Manufacturing Company. Before being Apex, this was the ice house for the Christian Moerlein Brewery.

Belmont Cafe. This sign is now more than a ghost - it's gone. The building was recently razed for the construction of the new School for the Performing Arts.

Great thread idea!  I especially like those painted signs that cover the entire building - like Philco and Liberty Tire.

Here are a few more.

Butternut Bread (painted over the former brand name of Butterkrust).  This sign is on McMicken Avenue just east of Vine Street in Over-The-Rhine.

Great gallery, I enjoyed the photos.

I have explored very little of West End so far, but it appears to be a treasure chest for ghost signs. Here is one I captured:

Hi,

This one is a little different - but you can still see a wall sign (it really is a ghost as the building it was painted on is long gone)!

The fire engine is a 1918 Ahrens-Fox that was assigned to Squad Company 52 at 315 West Court Street (the station that Squad 52 was quartered in is now the Cincinnati Fire Museum).  The building behind the fire engine (north side of Court Street) was previously a brewery (I can't remember which brand) and housed Louis Hellman & Co.  Radios were oviously a big part of the Hellman inventory.

This fire engine was also built in Cincinnati at a factory located at Colerain & Alfred Streets in Camp Washington.  Most of the complex of buildings that made up the Ahrens-Fox plant are still standing, now in use as a self-storage warehouse.  Several of the buildings in the A-F complex along Colerain Avenue were torn down for the construction of I-75.

Here is a shot of another ghost sign in the West End: Kay Furniture Warehouse. Apparently, there was a Kay Furniture store at 8th and Main.

I don't believe that the Kay Furniture ad will be there much longer. That building along with the remaining factory/waehouse structures on Gest Street south of 8th are supposed to be coming down.

"Leslie Ann Candies  Try Some Today".  Sounds like a good idea to me!  This ad was on Colerain Avenue just north of Marshall in Camp Washington.  This green and white beauty shared space with another ad that was peeking through in a few spots.  I don't recall if time has taken it's toll on Leslie Ann or if the building has been painted, but I believe that this bit of local history is history.  I'm now going on a hunt for chocolate...

This wall sign is difficult to view, it's squeezed in between a pair of buildings in the West End.  The ad for the National Biscuit Company appears to be in excellent condition.  This sign is painted on a building at 1921 Freeman Street which is just to the north of the New St. Paul Baptist Church (the building to the left).

Here is one in an alley behind Main Street. The Fort Washington Hotel has been restored and turned into high-end conds.

How about one of the new Provident Camera painted advertisement that is already chipping and faded?  ;)

Yes, that is a nice one, but Provident might take offense to our calling it a ghost sign!

someone asked about the Little Kings sign on Central Pkwy - from my archives...

Hey, here are some from McMillan and Concord.  I get to see them on my way home from work everyday.  :)

I'm not very happy with these next two, mostly because of the shadow.  I'll try to snap a few more soon, hopefully earlier in the day.

This White Star Laundry sign was on Vine Street in the Over-the-Rhine (east side of Vine closer to 13th than 12th).  The sign was fading out by the late 1990's.  I'm not sure if this building is still standing or has been repainted by condo developer, but I don't recall the sign being around any longer.

Tower gasoline was an outfit local to Cincinnati.  Their boldly colored yellow and green logo featured a large building in an art-deco style which was modeled after the Carew Tower.  Lenox Motors was an automobile dealership at this location. This sign, although rapidly fading, is still visible.  Ads for Tower were painted on the north and south sides of the structure.  The ad on the south side was faded almost completely away in the 1980's. You can find this place at Reading Road and Avondale Avenue in North Avondale, just south of the intersection at Paddock Road.

Does anyone remember the Cowboys and Indians mural that was painted on a building on Jefferson in Corryville during the 80s?  I think it was on the corner of Jefferson and Daniels, across from what is now the UC Rec. Center.  It was probably very un-PC, but I used to love it when I was a little kid.  If anyone has a picture of that mural please post it.

Of course,this one..

I can`t see this pictures ..

Blackbengal - I don't know the mural that you are referring to, but there is another great ghost sign in the Northside neighborhood of Cincinnati that features an Indian. Here is a link to a good picture of it (the shot is by Joey Harrison whom I know from Flickr):

A couple of weeks back I parked my car on Colerain Avenue in Camp Washington.  I was immediately struck by some bits of paint on a building across the street. An extremely faded wall sign was painted along the north side of the home.  I looked at the wall for a while, took a few pictures, and then looked some more.  I cannot make out what this wall says but I'm hoping that someone has better eyesite than I do.  The product name is slanted upward from the left.  Additional writing is above and below the large yellow lettering.  If you would like to visit this location the address is 2638 Colerain between Alfred and Straight Streets.  There are several wall signs in the 4-block stretch of Colerain between Hopple Street and Alfred, unfortunately most of them are pretty rough.
