no... probably from whenever the Pirates last swept the Reds in Pittsburgh... I just googled "Pirates Sweep" and found that enquirer image... looks like the Pirates were having a silly ballcap give-away promotion that day

Oh, ok. That explains it!

  • What a garbage take. And give it up about Seelbach. This has nothing to do with him. We all know you don't like him.   He wouldn't have said it on the air if he thought his mic was on. He kn

  • It's perfect timing, really. The RNC should invite him to speak at next week's victimfest along with all the other people that have been cancelled faced consequences for their actions.

  • The part that's most annoying to me is he started his apology by saying "if" I offended anyone, which is immediately insincere. I also like that he said "I'm a man of faith" like that is a good thing.

LOL! That's more like it! ;)

To be fair ... I'm sure the Penguins have something to do with the Pirates turnouts this weekend. ;)

Doc: Reds need a Wrigleyville

BY PAUL DAUGHERTY | [email protected]

On a 50-degree Tuesday night with the wind blowing 20 miles an hour, the Chicago Cubs played baseball in front of a full house at Wrigley Field.  On a 60-degree Thursday afternoon in the full sunshine two weeks ago, the Cincinnati Reds worked before a crowd of 12,000.  Thursday afternoon, the finale for the Reds in Chicago, the bleachers at Wrigley will fill like a suitcase on a trip overseas.  Half the people packing the seats won’t know who wins.  Or care.  The following night in Cincinnati, the Reds will host the Milwaukee Brewers.  If 25,000 show up, we’ll throw a parade.

Cubs ownership might have lucked into mastering the biggest factor in drawing big baseball crowds now. Or they might have drawn up a detailed plan and executed it like an around-the-horn double play. Beats me. It doesn’t matter.  Going to Wrigley is about seeing your Cubbies win, but only tangentially.  It’s more about the neighborhood, the Old Style, the ivy, the bleachers, Waveland, Sheffield, celebs singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame, the day games, the sunshine, the lake, Harry Caray’s ghost, memories of Sammy and The Hawk and Ernie Banks. Let’s drink two. At least.

there was actually a proposal to build on incline on Mt. Adams?

Come on Paul, Chicago's a lot bigger than here, plus WGN's national exposure did much to advertise Harry Carey and Wrigley Field to a generation of people all over.  Before Wrigley had lights, I used to watch a lot of cubs games on WGN when I was a kid.  If the White Sox had been on TV every day instead, I would have watched them.  TBS is the reason why The Braves are so big throughout the south.

Wonder if Paul ever noticed the McDonald's, Taco Bell, and car wash across the street from Wrigley.  It's really not all that great.

If it were up to me we would have sent the Bengals packing, the Brown family are thugs and they will never give up the team, never change their ways.  They're not our team, they're the Brown family's identity/cash cow.  Take the Bengals and his money away and who would Mike Brown be and what the hell kind of job would Mike Brown get?

Ouch I was not expecting that.

Nana na na, nana na na....hey hey hey...GOODBYE.

I have mixed emotions about this ... 9-12 is not because of Krivsky.

The offense is pitiful.

We finally won an opening game to a series today against St. Louis. Arroyo got his first win of the season also. We've won 3 straight so hopefully the streak continues!

Cueto snaps Reds' five-game slide

Rookie right-hander notches eight strikeouts in six innings

By Mark Sheldon / MLB.com

CINCINNATI -- Johnny Cueto snapped a five-start winless streak while the Reds snapped a five-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Cubs in Monday's series opener before 20,289 fans at Great American Ball Park.

Cueto (2-3) pitched six innings for his first win since April 3.  The 22-year-old allowed three earned runs and six hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Cincinnati had a 5-1 lead through three innings without scoring an earned run off of Cubs starter Ryan Dempster (4-1).

It's sad when you have to get excited about winning one game.

We can hope that Cueto is back on track. It will probably be a bumpy road with him this year. That's half the fun with the young guns. Watching them develop.

I'm thinking Griffey hits his 600 vs Cleveland. The Reds will take two of three and the Indians will be a footnote to history, as usual. ;-)

I hope Bronson will turn it around sometime soon. If not I think Bailey will get the call up eventually.

I am really glad I don't bet because my good feelings were obviously way off - I really thought this team was going to be good.  This is quickly becoming pathetic.

I know, as a huge baseball fan ... this is very depressing. They've given up it seems.

They stomped the Cubs last night 9-0. Volquez dominated as usual and has a NL best 1.06 ERA. Votto had 3 home runs in the game and Dunn, Phillips, Bako, and Hairston all hit home runs also.

Even the reds are allowed a fluke game once in a while. The offense is still PITIFUL.

That interview is more evidence that baseball has got to be the most fun to play of all the professional sports.

Of course, it's more fun when you're winning.

GOOD NEWS: Reds win second straight game against the Marlins.  Volquez has another quality start.

BAD NEWS: Keppinger fouls ball off his knee, breaks his kneecap. Ouch!

I was at the game.  What a game to go see.  Volquez dominated and all the homeruns.  I also went to the game last night against the Marlins.  Harang pitched good, not too exciting.  I was sitting about 50 feet from Jr., I was trying to get a ball from him all night.  Also, Dunn is terrible.

Jay Bruce is tearing up the minors and I think it will only be a matter of time before he replaces Dunn or Griffey. Dunn is in the banner year of his contract so it doesn't surprise me that he isn't playing very well. If all this Seattle talk is true, Griffey will probably be gone sometime after he hits 600.

I was at that game as well, and was sitting near the right field foul pole (near Griffey) on the 1st base side.  It was a fun game for the mere fact that they won.  All 16,000 of us I'm sure were thrilled.

Did anyone watch the Reds game Saturday (or maybe it was Sunday)? Ken Griffey Jr was introducing the Reds lineup and when he got to Dunn and called him Adam "White Power" Dunn...  :-o

I'm sure it was some sort of joke. From the video above it seems like they all have a good time with one another. Did anyone else see where Griffey owed Fogg money and paid him back in Pennies? It was like 1500 dollars worth too and he put it all in Foggs locker! lol.

Yeah, I heard about that! lol ... Pennies in bricks!

Well, that washes this past weekends sweep in C-land away!

I wish Baker would take F*#KING PATTERSON out of this lineup and sit him on his ass, where he belongs! Jeez ...

I have to agree with u on that. I wonder who is taking over for Dusty during his 2 game suspension? I'd like to know what it is with the West Coast. We always seem to struggle when we play there....

That game last night SUCKED. We used 2 starting pitchers in extra inning  and lost. I would have rather taken the loss with an outfielder pitching. Now The  rotations is screwed.

Looks like Jay Bruce is getting called up for Tuesday's game. Looking forward to seeing him play.

Someone should be getting dropped or traded.

Wow thats news to me...i've been waiting for this all year! :D Maybe Patterson will get fired lol

Scott Hatteberg hurt? If not why in the hell they send him down. Patterson was the better candidate.

I'd say Hatteberg will be gone unfortunately. He isn't hurt but just doesn't fit in with Dustys scheme right now. I definitely think Patterson should've been the one released for Bruce. On the sunny side Bruce went 3-3 tonight with 2 walks, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, a double, and a stolen base! :D

Went to the game last night. It was pretty obvious Bruce stole the show. Very exciting times!

Patterson finally got sent to the minors to "make some changes in his swing." Hopefully he doesn't come back. :)

J Bruce just hit his first major league HR. A walkoff job.

just grabbed him in fantasy!

He's been tearing up Atlanta. Bruce is a name thats going to haunt them hehe

just grabbed him in fantasy!

Tell us what kind of points you're getting with this kid, I'm curious! This guys is just ridiculous ... unbelievable.

Another homer today.

OMG he just got ANOTHER hit.

They compared his stats of the first five games to those of Rose, Sabo, etc. on FSN and they werent even close. If i had a time machine i'd travel about 10 years to see what they look like then. I'd really like to see Bailey brought up now that Fogg is on the DL. People complain about Bailey doing poorly at AAA but surely he wouldn't be any worst than Fogg or Belisle.

BBBBRRRRRRRUUUUUUCCCCCCEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Man, what a great week. The Reds are exciting again.

Even more fun to come, according to the Hal McCoy, Homer Bailey is pitching Thursday in Philly.
