August 14, 200618 yr Huge series starting tommorow....I feel that this will either make or break the Reds season! Hopefully the Cards play as equally crappy against the Reds as they did against the Pirates.
August 14, 200618 yr The Reds could have got Leland in the off season. We would be in much much better shape. Detriot has such an awesome team they would have had near the same record anyway.
August 14, 200618 yr MAN NARRON SUCKS. Men on 1st and 2nd in the 14th and he orders an intentional walk to load the bases with NO OUT.. wait, what? who was batting, babe ruth? are you kidding me? wow. my fourth grade little league manager could have done better. Yeah go figure. Yesturday with 2 outs he don't walk him with the tying run on second and the winning run on first in the 9th inning. He singled to tie the game. LOL he's an idiot. He can't make up his mind. Ryan Howard i'm talking about. This is his first full year.
August 14, 200618 yr ^ To be fair, yesterday Howard wasn't batting ahead of the pitcher (with no possibility of a pinch hitter) as he was at the end of that 14-inning game. (Not that I will express an opinion on the decisions; I'm not quite enough of a fan to get into real discussions.)
August 15, 200618 yr ^Also, there was one out on the board already. I'm not complaining though. The Reds have done the exact opposite more than enough to other teams. The Reds are the comeback team of the past 3 years. We lead the NL with runs scored and Homeruns. A lethal offense if you ask me. Unusual, I have to disagree with you about Narron ... sure I don't agree with every decision he makes, but he has done an awesome job getting us where we are right now. In the past few games he has made brilliant decisions in making our line-up, let's hope he keeps it similar for the rest of the season.
August 15, 200618 yr Redsfest back on the calendar THE ENQUIRER The Kahn's Redsfest is back. The event, coming off a two-year absence, is scheduled for Dec. 1-2 at Duke Energy Center downtown. The festival, which allows fans to interact with current and former Reds - and even mascot Gapper - was not held in 2004 or 2005 because of construction on the convention center. Times and ticket information have not been announced, but fans can register online at www.reds.com/redsfest to win four VIP Redsfest Experience packages, which include four tickets to the event, an autographed program, a personalized Reds jersey and bat, and a meet-and-greet session with Reds players and coaches. August 17, 200618 yr It is a pretty big event....nothing to exciting, but the fans come out in pretty good numbers for what is a rallying start for the new season! This thing usually takes its show on the road around the tri-state area to get all of Reds Nation up for the new year. Its not too expensive and its a neat afternoon....Reds players past and present sign autographs, have Q&A, there are all sorts of booths about Reds history, interactive displays, vendors selling memorabilia/merchandise, etc Good event all around!
August 17, 200618 yr Reds add Schoeneweis to help 'pen 08/16/2006 By Conor Nicholl and Mark Sheldon MLB.com ST. LOUIS -- Scott Schoeneweis was helping the Blue Jays stay in the American League East race on Tuesday night. One day later, he was another bullpen acquisition for the Reds. Schoeneweis, the seventh reliever acquired by Cincinnati since July 6, was picked up for a player to be named or cash considerations. Schoeneweis, a sinker/slider pitcher, will replace veteran reliever Kent Mercker. The left-hander will undergo reconstructive elbow surgery to repair a torn ligament in his elbow and miss the remainder of the season. The Reds transferred Mercker to the 60-day disabled list. August 18, 200618 yr Pathetic move. These people(recent trades) would not make the club in spring training. Why on earth would you bring them to the club that's fighting to get into the playoff's????
August 18, 200618 yr Probably because the bullpen has been bad enough to be comical...maybe because some of the arms got worn out, or the pitchers got figured out...but the bullpen we had in April and May, which was phenomenal, became as bad as they get in June and July. It's recovered to being fairly competent, but we can always use another arm. Take two guys with a 50/50 shot of being effective, and you end up with a 75% chance that one of them will work out...and we gave up a player to be named later or cash? Seems like a good deal...
August 20, 200618 yr Wow...I always liked Steve...maybe the first guy to replace Joe was really just there to take the hit, so the next guy would be compared with him, not with Joe...here's also a RedLegNation post with a round-up... Radio booth has empty seat Stewart told he won't be back with Marty next year BY KEVIN KELLY | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER There will be a new voice coming from the Reds radio booth next season. Reds chief operating officer John Allen informed broadcaster Steve Stewart on Friday that the team would not be renewing his contract. Stewart, 43, signed a two-year deal when the Reds hired him in February 2004, and in September received a one-year extension. August 21, 200618 yr ^ Really? I didn't like Steve at all. I found him boring. Though I do admit that he is much better now than when he first started.
August 21, 200618 yr Yeah, I liked him...always seemed nice, and I guess that's my primary criterion...though I read a comment where someone said he seemed to bring out the worst in Marty, and that seemed about right to me - I haven't enjoyed Marty this year nearly as much as in years past, and I wonder how much of it is due to the relationship he has with Steve...I still love him, just not as much as in years past...
August 23, 200618 yr Cincy freakin lit up Houston today .... damn .... 14-0. 1 game back from the NLC, bitchez.
August 23, 200618 yr found this funny Cincinnati Reds Volunteer To Win NL Central August 17, 2006 | Onion Sports CINCINNATI—The Cincinnati Reds (61-58) officially put their names forward as 2006 NL Central division champions Wednesday, after sensing that if they didn't offer to finish in first place, no one would. "We just figured that the Cardinals would do it again since they've been the ones doing it the past couple years, but they don't really seem to want to this season," Reds manager Jerry Narron said. "It's been a while since we came in first, so I guess it's our turn. No way are we doing it next year, though." Narron and his team also volunteered to get swept by the Mets in the first round of the playoffs. Read more at http://www.theonion.com/

August 23, 200618 yr I think if and when the Reds win the NL Cental they would play the Dodgers. The Mets would get the wild card. A Dodger/Reds series would be nice. I always had fond memories of the games the Reds played when they were part of NL West
August 23, 200618 yr Thus far we've shown we can play with the Mets - we're 3 and 4 against them...but in the one three-gamer we've played with the Dodgers, we got swept... Our 10-game west coast trip will tell us a lot about this team...hopefully we're just waiting to peak until the right time...

I always had fond memories of the games the Reds played when they were part of NL West The Mets opponent would be the wild card, unless the Wild Card team came from the NL East (i.e. the Phillies).
August 25, 200618 yr Yeah this team has so many up's and downs. Hopefully we are in first place after this long trip.
September 13, 200618 yr Reds ticket sales are up Fans respond to promotions; more coming BY CLIFF PEALE | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER September 13, 2006 CINCINNATI - Reds fans have done their part this season to make the team's financial plan a success. Through 74 home games this year, total ticket sales are up nearly 11 percent compared to last year. As part of an aggressive plan to increase the team's revenue and provide more money for players, the Reds budgeted a 5.5 percent increase in total attendance compared to about 1.94 million tickets in 2005. September 13, 200618 yr The Reds have been clawing their way back into things...they win the next two games, they'll be at worst one game out of the wildcard lead, with 16 games left in the season. This ain't over, by any stretch. Of course, I'm gonna screw it all up by going to the game tonight...I'm sorry, it's a work thing, I've gotta go...but I'll try switching it up by taking the bus downtown instead of walking the whole way, and I'll wear a different ball cap...
September 13, 200618 yr ^Just make sure to go to the bathroom when the Reds have someone on base. BTW, we decided to cancel our ticket package for next year!
September 13, 200618 yr BTW, we decided to cancel our ticket package for next year! Hate to hear that, but Reds fans everywhere thank you for your sacrifice!
September 13, 200618 yr I recieved this in an email, this sounds like you RV. Simulated terrorist attack to be conducted at Great American Ball Park On Saturday, September 30 the Department of Homeland Security and the Southwestern Ohio, Southeastern Indiana, and Northern Kentucky (SOSINK) Regional Collaborative will conduct a full scale simulated terrorist attack training exercise at Great American Ball Park. The mock disaster exercise is designed to test the regional terrorism preparedness and response to a terrorism attack. The exercise will focus on the evacuation of fans from the ball park and on key local emergency responder coordination, critical decision making, and integration of Federal and State assets to save lives and protect the public following a terrorist attack. The exercise participants include the Cincinnati Reds, Federal, State, and local law enforcement, the fire division, medical response, hospitals, the American Red Cross, emergency management, and various other federal, state, and local officials, as well as Major League Baseball. The Reds are asking for volunteers to come to Great American Ball Park to act as fans to be evacuated after a simulated attack. In appreciation for your attendance the Reds will provide each participant with a voucher for two tickets to a future baseball game in the 2007 season as well as other promotional items. This is an important exercise to prepare and to test the Reds ability to evacuate the Great American Ball Park as well as testing the local emergency responders during a mass casualty event and weapons of mass destruction attack. Volunteers do not need to pre-register. Families are welcome. We ask all volunteers to arrive at Great American Ball Park between 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Free parking will be provided at Great American Ball Park, The East Garage, and Parking lots B, C, and the Freedom Center parking lot. The volunteer fans should be finished by 10 a.m. Direct your questions about volunteering to Mark Lindquist at [email protected] or call him at 513-263-8208 Hamilton County Homeland Security Office.
September 13, 200618 yr That sounds very cool - I'd definitely be there, but I'm going to be helping Dad re-roof my grandparents' house in Norwalk that day...but if it's raining, I might go - thanks for the heads up!
September 14, 200618 yr lol yeah. This team can't handle the emotions of a walk off home run. I think they had a losing streak after EVERYsingle one that they his year.
September 27, 200618 yr Times has changed. The Reds are 2 and a half out with 5 to play. Can it be done? sure, but unlikely. Stl needs 3 more loses in 5 games and the Astro's need to lose 1 game out of 5, while the Reds must win all 5 of their games.
September 27, 200618 yr Actually, the Reds are at 78-79. Four wins and one loss puts them at 82-80. St. Louis is at 80-76. Two wins and three losses puts them at 82-79. So I assume that means, if we go 4-1 and St. Louis goes 2-3 (or we're 3-2 and they're 1-4, etc.) that it will force St. Louis to make up whatever game it is they weren't able to get in during the regular season. And if they lose that game? Then it's a one-game playoff with us, and anything can happen. Of course, we've gotta climb over Houston to get there. What about a three-way tie? Well, Cincinnati owns both Houston (10-5) and St. Louis (9-6), and Houston is 9-7 against St. Louis, so it would fall to section 2.b.1 of this tiebreaker guide, with the Reds as Team 1, Houston as Team 2 and St. Louis as Team 3. Which means we can choose to be Team A, B or C. Team A plays Team B at Team A's home field. Then Team C plays the winner of that game at the field of whoever wins. With this Reds team, I guess you'd choose to be Team C - one game instead of two, a day off, and we've been strong on the road this year...
September 27, 200618 yr I PREDICT REDS WIN NLC 2006!!!! Seriously, I can't believe how this is unfolding. Everyone was saying the Reds had a good chance of winning the NLWC, because of our easy year ending schedule -but the west coast killed us. Now, that easy schedule is paying off.
September 27, 200618 yr We just knocked Florida out of the race last night, so they will be after us tonight. And the Pirates. I dont know. Will they play their regular starters or prospects for next year? They can play spoiler too.
September 28, 200618 yr Oh, well...we lost, and both Houston and St. Louis won...still not mathematically eliminated, but St. Louis's magic number against us is now down to what, 2? But hey, what fun - the Reds have never been in mathematical contention on my anniversary before (which is today - 9/28/2002) - definitely a fun year!

October 3, 200618 yr Isn't having grass inside you house the latest hip new thing? The Reds are taking it to the next level.
October 4, 200618 yr Thom Brennaman to join dad Marty in Reds' broadcast booth Wednesday, October 04, 2006 CINCINNATI — Thom Brennaman, play-by-play announcer for the Arizona Diamondbacks for the past nine seasons, will join his dad, Hall of Famer Marty Brennaman, in the Cincinnati Reds' broadcast booth next season. The Reds said Tuesday that Thom Brennaman, 43, has signed a four-year deal that calls for him to work about 90 games next season with his father on radio, and also do some televised games on FSN Ohio.
