April 24, 200619 yr ^I would agree with all of your selections, however, I just dont like Aurillia all that much. I dont know what it is, but I just dont like the way he plays. I would like to see Freel worked into the lineup somewhere...maybe Dunn to 1st and Freel to LF (if Freel could play 1st that would be even better).
April 25, 200619 yr If Dunn cant make the transition to 1st then he should be traded, freal to left and Dunn to first would be great. Dunn honestly needs to go to the AL and Become a DH. Freal probably shouldn't be starting, but is a great off the bench type player.
April 25, 200619 yr Sounds like the Reds might be gearing up for another trade with the recent moves. My question is...who would you trade in order to attain another quality starter/reliever? My answer would be Jason Larue and/or the recently aquired Cody Ross. We have a surplus at both positions and both may be attractive to a developing team (KC, Nats, Marlins, etc.) A day of changes Another deal from Krivsky retools roster BY JOHN FAY | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER WASHINGTON - The move on the surface doesn't look like much. The Reds acquired outfielder Cody Ross from the Los Angeles Dodgers for a player to be named. But the ripples from the trade are larger than the trade itself: To make room for Ross, the Reds designated Tony Womack for assignment. The club has 10 days to trade or release Womack. If he's not traded, the club is on the hook for $1.1 million. With Womack gone, there's no easy move to get Ken Griffey Jr. back on the roster Friday when he's eligible to be activated from the disabled list. April 26, 200619 yr 15-7 I would have never thought that. The pitching has been better lately. But it's only the first onlyof the season. Hopefull we can do well against Houston this weekend, then we might have something going.
April 26, 200619 yr The next 5 games are gonna be a big indication of how good the reds really are. I'll be happy if they can go 3 and 2, 4 and 1 would be huge. 1 and 4 would seem like the same reds we're used to.
April 26, 200619 yr The next 5 games are gonna be a big indication of how good the reds really are. I'll be happy if they can go 3 and 2, 4 and 1 would be huge. 1 and 4 would seem like the same reds we're used to. I agree. The next week or so will say a lot of things. THE REDS ARE ON FIRE!!! CAN THEY BE STOPPED!!!??? ... LOL
April 28, 200619 yr I'm going to the game this Friday to watch the Red's take on the lethal Roy "O", anyone else coming? There's like 12 of us going unless anyone backs out.
April 28, 200619 yr ^ That's gonna be a tough game. The reds better put up some big numbers early. I'll be listening at work.
April 29, 200619 yr What a great game so far...it's 2-1 Reds right now, and the Reds have manufactured both their runs. Very fun game to watch - great pitching, great fundamental ball (except for Dunn in left, of course)...definitely great fun so far. Go Reds!
April 29, 200619 yr A nervous night (thanks to the Hooters), but the Reds own the best record in baseball! And the Cards are losing to the Nats, so we may hold the best record overnight, not just for a couple hours!
April 29, 200619 yr The pitching has been good the past week. Hopefully it's a sign of the times. Ohh And that homerun looked foul.
April 29, 200619 yr I'm pretty sure that homerun was a foul. I was sitting in the bleachers in leftfield. Sometimes I wish the MLB reviewed plays like the NFL does.
April 29, 200619 yr From the crappy replays I saw, it looked like it was going to hit the pole, which means it would have been a home run. Regardless, I hope the fan was kicked out of the game and banned from returning this season. Maybe even a hefty fine for good measure.
April 30, 200619 yr Cincinnati 17 7 best record in baseball..  And I'm a closet Indians fan.
April 30, 200619 yr Regardless, I hope the fan was kicked out of the game and banned from returning this season. Maybe even a hefty fine for good measure. Why? It's not like a player had a chance to catch it. It would have hit the pole regardless of whether the guy caught it or not. Anyway, GO REDS!!!!!!!!!!!
April 30, 200619 yr Interfering with a ball in play. Nobody could have caught it, but it may or may not have been a home run. I think you're right, that it would have hit the pole, but it shouldn't be a question. But that's just my opinion...but indeed, go Reds! This is just an amazing run, and a whole lot of fun!

May 2, 200619 yr you guys might be getting sick of me by now, but the FSN Detroit did the same exact thing. Funny how FSN holds back with teams, until they are doing better
May 3, 200619 yr The 2006 Big Red Machine ... oh wait, I might get beat up for even joking like this! ;) #1 AGAIN IN THE MAJORS ... BRING IT BITCHES!!! 19-8
May 3, 200619 yr We finally sweep the Cardinals and I can't be at either game. Its time for Cincinnati to get out to the ballpark with the best team in baseball! 25,000 is not enough, lets get 30k for next game and I will be there.
May 13, 200619 yr I should of posted this before the Phils game last night, but... How many times did Marty reference "Alex Madrid Syndrome" while Hamels was on the mound?
May 15, 200619 yr Well it's only a 3 game losing streak..;) It's not the end of the world. I'm just glad the pitching has come around. Hopefully it stays. If it does. It's going to be a fun summer.
May 15, 200619 yr After years of mediocrity, this is a nice change of pace for the Reds, but I'm doubtful it'll last past the all-star break. Who knows, they were pretty hot last July and August, and they finally cleaned out the front office and brought in people who know how to manage a baseball team, especially one as rich in history as the Reds.
May 20, 200619 yr Yeah, very nice to see the bats coming alive. It was just a matter of time - and now we just need to keep the pitching going like it was and there will be a real possibility of being strong enough by the All-Star break to see Castellini come through on his promise to go out and buy some help...and then, who knows?
May 21, 200619 yr This team just does not have it. I'm sure they givin away at least 6 games already.Tonight was just terrible. 1. we need a closer. 2. We need a major league manager. This guy continues to make minor league mistakes. 3. Worst defence of any team i have EVER seen. And i'm not kidding. 4. At least we are not Kansas City.
May 22, 200619 yr I don't know what's worse. Getting beaten by a guy who wears glasses or the pope (or anyone from Detroit) talking shit. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
May 22, 200619 yr I don't know what's worse. Getting beaten by a guy who wears glasses or the pope (or anyone from Detroit) talking shit. to boot, i wear glasses on occasion.

June 2, 200619 yr Great story!!! Reds revamp diamonds Neglected city baseball fields fixed for kids BY DUSTIN DOW | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER Bill Blevins pours sandy-colored rocks from two paper cups onto a boardroom table at the Cincinnati Recreation Commission headquarters. Some are small pebbles; others are the size of a golf ball or a cell phone - all collected in minutes from a local baseball field. Blevins explains his goal: For 18 once-downtrodden inner-city baseball diamonds, he wants to find clay far superior to the dirt that contained the rocks on the table. Blevins' inspiration comes from the men sitting across the table, who control $130,000 that the Cincinnati Reds Community Fund is supplying to restore the fields. The money is giving 1,300 kids ages 5-15 on 85 inner-city teams safer, more enjoyable and better-looking fields that can be used more frequently. Reds owner Bob Castellini has pushed for the organization to be more community-oriented, which is why the nonprofit arm of the Reds initially donated $15,000 this spring, enabling the commission to get unsightly fields ready for play in April. June 2, 200619 yr Response from most coaches has echoed Kelly's. But Frank heard from one coach - whose team plays most games on fields not part of the improvement program - who called the project "racist" because all of the fields are in predominantly black neighborhoods and the teams that use them are made up mostly or entirely of black youths. "The individual told me we were coming across as looking exclusive," Frank says. " 'When are you going to spread the resources?' Well, nobody is going to apologize for spreading resources to inner-city kids.' " Is this coach implying what i think he is? some sort of revers racism, because they are fixing up innercity ball parks. That's crazy and I hate that this city is so quick to drop the race card, It just makes me so sick.
June 4, 200619 yr That's crazy and I hate that this city is so quick to drop the race card, It just makes me so sick. It is crazy and thinking that this city is the only city that is quick to drop the race card is also crazy.
June 6, 200619 yr That's crazy and I hate that this city is so quick to drop the race card, It just makes me so sick. It is crazy and thinking that this city is the only city that is quick to drop the race card is also crazy. not implying that its the only city to do such, but I'm from NE Ohio and race never seamed to be such an issue as it is in cincy, maybe its me, maybe its the media, I don't know.
June 6, 200619 yr Ken Griffey rocks my nuts off........he single handedly won that game last night....well done Jr!
June 6, 200619 yr Ken Griffey rocks my nuts off Too bad about your nuts, but yeah, June is shaping up to be just about as good as May was bad... Actually, far better...the Reds went 17-8 in April, then 12-16 in May - but they haven't lost a game in June... My wife and I are going to the game on Friday against the Cubs for my birthday...want to sit in the bleachers, way over towards center field, so we get a kick-ass view of the river. Plus as she learns about baseball, she's at the point where she can watch and understand the whole defensive dance the fielders do when balls are in play - backing people up, cut-off men, all that - and that should be easier to see and understand from out there...plus they're the cheapest seats in the house!
June 7, 200619 yr Yay, go Reds! Here's hoping they complete the sweep of the Cards tomorrow! I've been a little more into baseball this season than usual (though still no hardcore fan)... can't wait to get to a Reds game next week sometime.
June 7, 200619 yr The bleachers are actually the second cheapest seats in the house. The seats in the corners (last two sections) of the upper deck are actually cheaper. I believe bleachers=$10 and corners=$7
June 7, 200619 yr ^ Those corner seats are the ones my cheap family always goes for. Still $5 I think, just like the Top 6 at Riverfront! Cheapest in all of baseball, perhaps? If ever you do go for those, choose the ones on the right field side so that you can actually see the scoreboard.
