June 7, 200619 yr Yeah, the Outer View Level is cheaper ($5 vs. $9), but you can't buy those in advance - only available day of game. Although reading it, it says they're only available day of game, unless most other seats are sold, which means you can still plan in advance to sit there if there's any chance they might not be available...I should have read more closely...
June 8, 200619 yr SWEEEEP! Reds in first! How about that! Going to my first game of the year tomorrow. Better be a good crowd to cheer on the home team.
June 8, 200619 yr Woo frickin' hoo! How cool is it not to have lost a single titanic struggle in June? Enjoy your first 2006 game tomorrow, and I'll dig the hell out of my third...the Reds have lost the previous two my wife and I have been to, so we've got one more chance - if they lose on Friday, that's gotta be it for the season for us...
June 9, 200619 yr I wouldn't call myself a fair weather fan, just maybe a casual fan, but I am really getting pumped. We could do something this year, especially with Cast... promising to make the "big" trade if we are in the running in July, I'm assuming for a pitcher?
June 9, 200619 yr Trade Dunn and Larue. That right there will free up 13 million a year. Hell trade them to houston with some minor leaguers and get clemmons. But not at 22 million for a half a season. Houston is DUMB.
June 9, 200619 yr It was trivia night at Indigo's in Ft. Mitchell last night, and we left there between the 8th and 9th innings...listened to the last three outs, by which time we were just hitting the cut-in-the-hill...went like this, bang-bang-bang: The Cut-in-the-Hill view of the skyline comes into view "This one belongs to the Reds!" Fireworks... OMFG, so beautiful, perfect timing...my wife and I were cheering and laughing, because it was just so flawlessly perfect - fireworks going off over the city, like it was planned just for us...
June 9, 200619 yr ^ Wow, I can imagine... sounds really cool. BTW, the blame falls squarely on you and your wife if the winning streak ends tonight! :-D
June 9, 200619 yr Oh, I know! Two games so far, both losses...if they lose again tonight, that's it for this season - no more games for us...but EZ's been absolutely top notch lately, and the bats are alive again, and Maddux has been struggling on the road of late, so it looks good - but you never know...

WOW...I am extremely jealous! That must have been wonderful!
June 9, 200619 yr Yeah, it was amazing. Couldn't have planned it if we tried. However, it did make me think there's no reason one couldn't plan it - like running up to Newport Central Catholic during the last inning of a game the Reds are winning, prepping the camera, then hoping Coffee completes the save...definitely something I'm gonna try to do...
June 10, 200619 yr Well...you see, I think I was wearing my Chattanooga Lookouts hat to these games: ...so maybe that's what the problem was...I might just try one more game with a different ballcap on, wear the Reds hat, see if maybe that fixes it...
June 11, 200619 yr Maybe it's my wife's fault! The ball cap, or the wife... (Or maybe it's the defense...)
June 13, 200619 yr I don't get this clubs. It's either all or nothing. That's a sure sign of a .500 ballclub.
June 16, 200618 yr Just tried buying 2 tix for tonight's game against the White Sox ... SOLD OUT!!! I talked with a ticket salesperson from tickets.com and there are no 2 seats together in the entire ballpark! (I guess I'll be hitting the streats for scalpers)
June 16, 200618 yr Wow, that's great news. 2-5 so far on the home stand, and we still sell out...I'm sure a lot of it is due to the Sox being in town, with Chicago folks in following the team, but it's still cool...go Reds!
June 17, 200618 yr Welcome back Golden Hands! RV, I can do you one better. We bought a 20 game package this season and went to our fourth game Tuesday night, the fourth loss we've seen. On top of that, from our package, we gave one set away and traded one for Dragons tickets; they were both losers too. Five (7) times is a charm (I hope). Oh, and the Dragons lost too.
June 17, 200618 yr I'd be overjoyed if the Reds could win this series with the White Sox. Next week I have to go back to work with a Brewers fan and a White Sox fan... a win over the White Sox would more than make up for the loss to the Brewers in terms of gloating rights! (I was witness to the loss to the Brewers on Monday and may never get to another game in Cincinnati this year!)
June 18, 200618 yr I was at the game tonight. I never seen so many people from Chicago in my life without being in the city. This bullpin STINKS.
June 18, 200618 yr Damn this streaky team! FUCK!!! I've gassed up my car and I'm offering my passenger seat to Claussen. Let's head to Louisville. Or, if you'd prefer, I'll head up I-75 to Dayton. This guy is never going to get better. How many more times can we trot this loser out there? How many more times is he going to give some bullshit interview about how he "didn't feel good out there"? Sometimes I wish baseball was like the NFL, where there were no guaranteed contracts. Today's game was just terrible. Nice bullpen. I always knew that our "average age of 42" bullpen would fall into these long spells of ineffectiveness. I believe Hammond hit a high of 72 mph on the gun today. Good news...Rick White has been designated for assignment. Goodbye. Let's do the same with Burns. This guy couldn't get ME out. Somebody please help us.
June 18, 200618 yr I was at the game tonight. I never seen so many people from Chicago in my life without being in the city. I went to games at Riverfront where the Cubs fans were 50/50 with us, because they couldn't get tix to their own ballpark. One time a Cubs fan tripped and spilled an entire beer in my lap. Everyone around us razzed the Cubs fans for "not being able to hold their liquor". It was hilarious.
June 19, 200618 yr RV, I can do you one better. Gaa...say, maybe the problem is that you and I are home team bad luck bringers...maybe we should try to catch games in other cities...
June 20, 200618 yr Monte, what happened to your Mets tonight? Looks like their "steller" offense was almost shut down and on top of this ... Arroyo pitching a complete game. :-D
June 24, 200618 yr Cleveland, sit down and try a plate of "shut-out" baseball. ;) Well, don't I feel like an ass! ;) I'm being humbled.
June 26, 200618 yr I like it, I like it... It kind of sucks that we're getting the Royals when they've actually started to wind a couple of games and when we had such a shitty homestand last time. Ah, fuck that, why am I being so negative? I feel pretty confident we'll turn that trend around. KC ain't shit.
June 26, 200618 yr the tigers and white sox say: "you're welcome" Yeah, they ripped through the NLC like a hot knife and butter.
June 26, 200618 yr Well....its final. Cincinnati IS better than Cleveland (in life as well as baseball)!
June 27, 200618 yr the tigers and white sox say: "you're welcome" I'm liking the Tigers more and more these days.
June 27, 200618 yr ^ Well, I hope that retraction was fast enough to have no ill effect... it's bad enough that your presence causes the Reds to lose!
June 28, 200618 yr I think the reds Ownership is dumb. They are letting this season goto waist. They should have gotten bullpen help months ago. What the hell are they waiting for???? We could be 7 games up by now.
June 28, 200618 yr I think the reds Ownership is dumb. They are letting this season goto waist. They should have gotten bullpen help months ago. What the hell are they waiting for???? We could be 7 games up by now. Might it be because finding bullpen help is like looking for a needle in a haystack? Or better yet, they have nothing of worth to trade for pitching (the fire sellers will want prospects. Last I heard, the Reds have few of those).
June 28, 200618 yr The good news is we've got some pitching talent in AA. Homer Bailey had a no-hitter going through 6 innings last night, they pulled him for a series of relievers, and they kept the no-hitter going into the 9th, when the last guy gave up a solo home run. Dan O'Brien at least did something right the last couple years...and Castellini bought a Boston single-A affiliate this spring, didn't he? That's all extremely welcome news. I'd rather patiently watch Yan and Shackleford lose some games for us this season than deal away the future for a couple years of a decent reliever...making a little noise this season is a hell of a lot of fun, but let's face it - we can compete in the NL Central, not in the NL, and certainly not against the AL. This season is for fun - but with the right decisions and a growing farm system, I want to see a dynasty. 2006 is not 1975, or even 1972 - but hopefully it's 1969!

June 30, 200618 yr I think the reds Ownership is dumb. They are letting this season goto waist. They should have gotten bullpen help months ago. What the hell are they waiting for???? We could be 7 games up by now. Nobody is going to be able to pick up a quality reliever in June. Wait until late July.

Wait until late July. quality relievers are a myth, out of all the RP's in the leauge, probably less than 20% are consitent from year to year. Hell, exclude the "lefty specialists" and mariano rivera, and you are down to 13% percent. (wait, are we talking relievers or closers, or does relievers imply/include closers?)

Relievers include Closers, set-up, middle, and mop ups. Quality relievers usually only mean closers and set-ups. You don't trade for middle or mop ups (unless they are there to fill in a deal)
