IMO, Bill Bray is going to turn out to be a great acquisition!

That kid is a monster. He looks like he would be very intimidating to a hitter. Reds closer of the future?

And for those who didn't like the trade consider this.

Right field may be Ryan Freels now and they say its Chris Denorfias in the future

......but....

seeing as how Adam Dunn and Austin Kearns are best friends and Austin Kearns seemed to be very depressed about leaving the Reds, I wouldn't be surprised to see Austin Kearns in a Reds uniform again next year. ( His contract is up at the end of this year )

Also Adam Dunn is hitting so much better now that he has stopped swinging for the fences all the time.

He's hitting so good now that I haven't heard anyone talk about wanting to trade him lately.

  • What a garbage take. And give it up about Seelbach. This has nothing to do with him. We all know you don't like him.   He wouldn't have said it on the air if he thought his mic was on. He kn

  • It's perfect timing, really. The RNC should invite him to speak at next week's victimfest along with all the other people that have been cancelled faced consequences for their actions.

  • The part that's most annoying to me is he started his apology by saying "if" I offended anyone, which is immediately insincere. I also like that he said "I'm a man of faith" like that is a good thing.

Wow...never thought of that, but I just dont think he is worth the money that he is going to be asking for.  However, I appreciate your boldness....it is indeed an intriguing situation to think about.

WTF happened to Ramirez?!

He struck out 8 tonight!!! Wow.

^And 7 in a row at one point, and retired 13 straight...6 2/3rds, 1 earned run...woo frickin' hoo.

Yeah, that was pretty cool last night!

Meanwhile, I am extremely disappointed because I was going to go see the Reds play in Milwaukee this weekend with some people but the games are freakin' sold out!  And it's just got to be because of this new racing sausage they're introducing... effin' Brewers.

Now I don't get to see the Reds for the whole rest of the season.

So uhh...how much does Dunn get paid?  We could use him.  :)

We sat next to some reds fan decked in Griffey Jr. Gear.  They were quiet the whole game(who could blame them!) until Turnbow came in and walked Dunn.  The reds fans said "This is the turnbow I like!", they were quiet for the last 2 outs.  :)

If I may go back to Friday's game for a moment (since it had a happy ending  and since there's a Brewers fan in the house) I just want to mention that as much as I'd like to have seen the run score, I had to applaud Damian Miller surviving being bowled over by Adam Dunn at the plate and then casually dropping the ball right in front of Dunn's face.  Good show! :-D

Hahaha yeah, that was neat, Damian Miller being ran into by Adam Dunn.

Sounds pretty good to me....didn't really lose too much, and we got some quality in return.  I guess we brought Germano up on Sat. to shop him around a little bit.

Reds trade for Lohse

Cormier also added for playoff run

BY JOHN FAY | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

The Reds made two trades today and acquired starting pitcher Kyle Lohse from the Minnesota Twins and relief pitcher Rheal Cormier from the Phillies.  The Reds gave up two pitchers, Justin Germano to Philadelphia and minor leaguer Zach Ward to the Twins.  Lohse, 27, is 51-57 with a 4.89 ERA in his career.

His best years were 2002, when he went 13-8 with a 4.23 ERA, and 2003, when he went 14-11 with a 4.61 ERA.  He slipped to 9-13 with a 5.35 ERA in 2004, and was 9-13 with a 4.18 ERA last year.  Lohse has had his problems in Minnesota.  Last season, he damaged manager Ron Gardenhire's office door with a bat after being pulled after two innings from a start.

willy mo is a double away from the cycle

For the season?

(I've rarely seen him play in Boston this year)

jeez i just looked at the wild card race:

in the NL: nine teams within 5 1/2 games of cincinnati

conversly, in the AL: three teams tied, and one within two games. Next closest, six games.

Get your half-price tickets

Reds also offering $1 hot dogs for games vs. Cards

BY JOHN FAY | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

In his latest effort to help the club win, Reds chief executive officer Bob Castellini is trying to fill up Great American Ball Park for next week's series with the St. Louis Cardinals.  The Reds are offering half-price tickets in 10 seating locations for three games in the four-game series that runs Monday through Thursday.  The exception is Wednesday's game, which is Dave Concepcion Bobblehead night.

The Reds also are cutting the price to $1 on hot dogs for the series.  The tickets discounted range from the Terrace Box seats (now $15) down to the bleachers (now $4.50) and all of the seats priced between.  Tickets originally priced $36 (Terrace Infield Box) and above are not discounted.

This is the first year I've really followed the baseball blogs, and I've learned one very important truth - nobody who blogs about baseball likes any trade, ever.  We could have dealt LaRue to the Mets for Pedro Martinez, and they'd bitch about dumping the future for a has-been.

Just look at the bullpen from the beginning of July: Weathers, Mercker, Yan, Standridge, Coffey, Shackelford, Hammond and sometimes Belisle.

The bullpen today: Guardado, Coffey, Cormier, Bray, Majewski, Weathers, Lohse and maybe Belisle.

And we've still got Mercker, Standridge and Shackelford 2 hours away in Louisville.  And for this we gave up Kearns, "Oops" Lopez, Germano (a future #4 or #5 starter), a single-A pitcher, and what, another handful of minor leaguers here and there?  Haven't touched our top prospects, improved the infield, got Freel and Denorfia more playing time, gave up some power, and have a bullpen that can actually perform.

And on the blogs, Krivski is the dumbest man on the planet.

Amazing...

^Well I have enjoyed the trades thusfar.  Take that for what its worth.

the half priced ticket thing should work. Everyone that i have talked to has said that they are going to go to a game next week....i plan to as well...MMmmmmm $1 hot dogs....

Oh, I meant the blogs specifically, not the folks chatting here...unless you mean you're a Reds blogger, in which case I hadn't seen your blog yet!  I normally check in with RedLegNation, especially gameday threads, then Shawn's place and RedReporter, then I'll follow links from there...

you guys had esteban yan? I wondered where he disappeared off to......

Yeah, we had Yan.  Then he was designated for assignment and released.  I think he pitched maybe a dozen games.

GARY MAJEWSKI SUCKS!!!  Can someone please arrange a tour of Louisville for him?

Majewski sucks?

Obviously Jerry Narron doesn't think so. He keeps running him out there in critical situations.

If this team is lucky enough to make the playoffs or finish over .500 for that matter, it will be in spite of their manager who has proved to be pretty dumb. It is pretty clear that he manages with his heart and it's not working. It seemed like he wanted to show Majewski that he had confidence in him, so he sent him back out there to pitch the 8th inning and it blew up in his face.....again.... every time he makes decisions like this it doesn't work out and all the fans can see it coming....which begs the question. Can't the Reds just hire one of the fans to manage this team? I honestly think that someone sitting in the stands can make better decisions.

Do you guys realize how important this series is right now against the Cards? All 4 games should be SOLD OUT! Who's going to the game? I'll probably be at 3, maybe 2 of them. We've got to sweep them! What are your predictions?

Ouch.  What a first half inning.  Ouch.

Do you see what we get when we sell out? They play like garbage. 1-5 now 1-6 in sell outs.

^ don't post while drunk and or drinking

Did you notice how the whole upper deck looked like their was no one in the seats for the first 3 innings.

Gota keep the hopes up, now we just have to take the next 3 games this week and 2/3 next week.

GARY MAJEWSKI SUCKS!!!  Can someone please arrange a tour of Louisville for him?

Hmm...shoulder injury?  DL?  Or just a 15 day cooling off period....

Would explain his performance...I used to be more suspicious of these things, but I guess I'm not so much anymore...but then, I really don't know anything about Inside Baseball, so I shouldn't even speculate...

Bronson Arroyo now has corn-rows for luck in getting his 10th win Thurs.

(Bo Derek in "ten")

^Wow...they could get into some serious shit for that, couldn't they?

the reds are For REAL.... why cant me and my Friends get to a game we'll the computer keeps saying a sellout and the TV says about 35k.

Wow, what a fun game!  Ryan Freel was just the man...

Ryan Freel's catch has to be one of the greatest in baseball HISTORY!!!

That one deserves an ESPY award.

Yep, an exciting game.

Don't bother watching tomorrow, I'll be there.

If Ryan Freel had gotten the out at 2nd on that amazing catch, I would have died right where I sat.

And then my rotting corpse would be discovered a month later because I have no friends to come looking for me.

I'll settle for freaking AWESOME instead.

This team is playing with my emotions. I'm sure their taking years off my life. :-P

They SUCK and then they KICK ASS...SUCK...KICK ASS....SUCK...KICK ASS.

Man, another exciting game with a game winning walk off homerun.

Another couple months off my life.

^Just wait until you see what tonight's win netted us from ColDayMan...someone was at Newport Central Catholic tonight, with appropriate timing, due to the egging-on of a fellow forumer who likes to view rivers, and Mr. CMH...I'm almost more excited to see Chris's pictures than I was about the game, and I was jumping up and down about the game!

So, ink, did you not make it to the game or something?

^We were so frustrated that we would experience our 13th loss, we left at the end of the eighth when the score was 7-6.

I wonder what would have happened if we had stayed.
