Walked up to school 3 miles in 6 feet of snow uphill both ways.My mother really had a life like that.This is the place her and 6 brothers and 2 sisters spent most of they're childhood.Named "The old Steele Place" for the previous occupants,which I'm told were "Moonshiners". It's about 20 miles outside Beattyville,Kentucky which is about 50 miles from civilization. When you live in Beattyville and someone mentions "The old Steele place" the first response is usually "yeah thats out in the middle of f$%*&^ nowhere".."Deliverance type s*&#". January 28, 200817 yr All I can say is "wow". I can't begin to imagine living in a home like that. 10 people living in a home that size. It put things in perspective.

This place looks dilapidated but alot of ppl are still living in these type of structures with dish tv receivers stuck to them..I have seen towns that look like they did in the 1900's...Beattyville is the only town I have seen where ppl still live like they did in the 1900's....No joke...
