I have a ton of photos of Flint but I'll just post the ones I took yesterday, I mainly focused on the buildings they are working on downtown.  So this is not a complete photo thread of downtown.

First thing I did was check out the Flint River

What's the story behind this? I remember seeing some photos of this prior to any work, and it was a complete mess. Looks like it will be nice!

Was there a loss of the corner facade at one point?

Good to see all that work being done. I've never been to Flint, but I'd heard that it was in pretty desperate shape. The riverfront looks quite good.

Back around 1991 they applied this brick veneer sort of facing to a couple of buildings downtown in Fort Wayne, and when winter came, the bricks started to shed. They had to remove all of it and replace it with a different type of cladding. Maybe they've improved the technology to withstand cold climates since then.

Looks nice, I will try and take a trip there sometime. Thank you for the pictures

Nice!

Was that an old, historical building updated with new brick? If no, why wasn't the old brick simply restored?

This building was topped out with the facade complete, but then it collapsed toward the end of summer.  Work cannot continue on this structure until it is deemed safe.  So yeah.... either it will be demolished or hopefully finished.  I fairly certain they will continue work soon.

For what its worth, I expected worse...

Loved the Ghandi mural.  You photographed a much more hopeful-looking town than I would have expected

Looks much nicer than I imagined, but sure looks cold.
