Posted February 2, 200817 yr Hello all, I am soon to be a homeowner in Norwood and want to know if there is a hardware store or some type of business in Cincinnati that sells cool old stuff taken out of old houses. I want to buy some old doorknobs that will match what I have in the house now. Maybe some Rookwood Tile too for the fireplaces. For extra credit: Is there a place that can strip and polish and maybe dip the old metal hinges and knobs/plates that I have now? Thanks! O.A.R.
February 2, 200817 yr Wooden Nickel Architectural Antiques has doors, doorknobs, fireplace mantels, and all kinds of materials salvaged from old buildings. They also build custom furniture. I don't remember any Rookwood Tile. Ask them if they will restore your metal. I don't know the exact address. They are on Central Parkway near Music Hall. They have two other showrooms, in Montgomery, and Lebanon, I think.

I have a tip for you, get an old pot or crock-pot fill it with water and put in your hardware let the water come to a boil and the paint will come right off. http://thisoldcrackhouse.blogspot.com/2007/12/refinishing-vintage-lighting-part-1.html
February 2, 200817 yr if my doorknobs look as good as his light fixtures I'd be happy. All they would need would be a good polishing. Thanks guys. o.a.r.
