Hello all,

I am soon to be a homeowner in Norwood and want to know if there is a hardware store or some type of business in Cincinnati that sells cool old stuff taken out of old houses.  I want to buy some old doorknobs that will match what I have in the house now.  Maybe some Rookwood Tile too for the fireplaces.

For extra credit:  Is there a place that can strip and polish and maybe dip the old metal hinges and knobs/plates that I have now?

Thanks!

Wooden Nickel Architectural Antiques has doors, doorknobs, fireplace mantels, and all kinds of materials salvaged from old buildings. They also build custom furniture. I don't remember any Rookwood Tile. Ask them if they will restore your metal.

I don't know the exact address. They are on Central Parkway near Music Hall. They have two other showrooms, in Montgomery, and Lebanon, I think.

I have a tip for you, get an old pot or crock-pot fill it with water and put in your hardware let the water come to a  boil and the paint will come right off.

if my doorknobs look as good as his light fixtures I'd be happy.  All they would need would be a good polishing.  Thanks guys.

Check out the antique store on Main st OTR.  They have old doorknobs.
