February 8, 200817 yr Nicely done! Definitely one of my favorite cities in Ohio as well as one of my favorite courthouses.
February 8, 200817 yr This is the town that sparked my interest in everything this website stands for. I love this town and will always love it. To think that I only lived here for a month, and love it so much, is pretty crazy. Am I crazy? Maybe haha. But seriously this town is so beautiful and I was waiting for this thread after I saw the Gallopolis thread. It's such a shame to see it ravaged by fires. :| I know there were some fires right before I started at Recording Workshop (September 06), but how recent is the fire that you showed.. or the aftermath that is.. Great photos. Also.. I don't know if the time will ever come, but if I EVER cheat on Williamsport, it will be with this city.. lol.. but that won't ever happen. :-P
February 8, 200817 yr Williamsport has the grit that Chillicothe doesn't have...and I'm not talking about the magazine.
February 8, 200817 yr Williamsport is a gorgeous town, don't get me wrong. I love it. I'll probably never leave it. But it doesn't have the "majesty" that Chillicothe has. And I have to say that one of the main reasons why I liked Chillicothe was the grit in some areas of town. Williamsport's downtown is slowly rebounding and I have a feeling that it will be much better in a few years. But it doesn't have the same feel. I still love it anyway.
February 8, 200817 yr Summit Street laid claim to the title of Courthouse Courtesan, so I guess that leaves me as Courthouse Philanderer; I love many. I think Allen County's (Indiana) is pretty much unmatched for elaborate interior detail and color, and architectural elegance puts the one in Chillicothe is in a class by itself. I've had flings, too, with the Jefferson County Courthouse in Brookville, PA and the Marshall County Courthouse in Plymouth, Indiana, and my heart still pines for the Orange County Courthouse in Paoli, Indiana.
February 9, 200817 yr Sadly I have never been here...it looks really cool. That Majestic street sign reminds me of the Bun Restaurant sign in downtown Delaware, OH...I think signage like that is unique and cool... Nice work on this thread, BTW. Anyway, what is the scoop on the Carlisle (burned) building...what was it, what is it, and what are the plans for it...if any?
