Posted February 8, 200817 yr Today, 2-7-08, was a busy day taking pictures downtown. It started at the Avenue District at 9 a.m. and ended with a visit to the East Fourth neighborhood for dinner with my father. I brought the camera along and snapped these pictures of Tower City, Ontario, Prospect, East 4th, Euclid, The Arcade and Superior. February 8, 200817 yr Looks great at night (and during the day). Those dense streets scream "big city".
February 8, 200817 yr Nice shots - what's going on with Key Tower? They only had the tip top of the crown lit (along with their fugly logos). clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
February 8, 200817 yr Nice shots, Downtown Cleveland has always done a good job with building lighting.
February 8, 200817 yr I seem to remember that Cleveland was the first city to light up electrically, and the ladies complained that it put their complexions to a disadvantage ...
February 8, 200817 yr ^ Correct: When Public Square was lit by electric street lights in 1879, Cleveland became the first city in the world to be illuminated by electricity. The Arc Lamp at 55 Public Square is a reproduction of the first streetlight.
February 8, 200817 yr Actually the lamp is at 127 Public Square (Society for Savings building) :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
February 8, 200817 yr That's cleveland.com, I didn't catch that. It would look very out of place at 55 PS!
February 8, 200817 yr Hilarious, MayDay! Great shots, KJP! Way to show your pops a good night out on the town. Too bad (or maybe good) the Cavs were in Houston, 'cause those streets would've been even more jammed if they were playing at the Q!
February 8, 200817 yr I seem to remember that Cleveland was the first city to light up electrically, and the ladies complained that it put their complexions to a disadvantage ... That's an odd complaint...unless you're a prostitute working the street.
February 8, 200817 yr David, when you get older you'll understand why EVERYONE appreciates flattering lighting. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
February 8, 200817 yr But you still don't spray the windex on a towel and then wipe the table, do you? clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
February 8, 200817 yr I'm thinking I should spray you; I've heard it's effective at killing vampires
February 8, 200817 yr Spray me?!? Keep your sicko kinky fantasies to yourself and get back on topic! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
February 8, 200817 yr Man, this thread quickly took a turn for the bizarre! "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
February 8, 200817 yr Looks great at night (and during the day). Those dense streets scream "big city". Don't worry. When K&D are done there will be more pedestiran plazas with much desired greenspace breaking up those superblocks :| Great Shots KJP! One day when I am really bored, I want to compile before and after shots of E 4th. Maybe I will wait until Euclid Avenue is done. Wait, am I typing outloud? Sorry
February 8, 200817 yr Beautiful! You've made my decision KJP...my friends and are are taking the rapid downtown to E.4th tonight.
February 8, 200817 yr Glad to be of assistance! "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
February 9, 200817 yr Very nice shots. That Euclid Avenue wall is one of my favorites, anywhere. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
