Montgomery is a great model for affluent suburban communities with small business districts (listen up MASON!). Most of the buildings in downtown Montgomery are not historic, but infill has been sensitively designed and creates fantastic sense of place.

Montgomery reminds me so much of Worthington in Columbus. Great set.

What a cute town!

And what ENTHUAISM YOU HAVE!!! :)

Wow, this is really charming. Looks cohesive, affluent and clean.  I agree with you...the brick pillars are outstanding.

^^^Honestly, I've never seen brick columns like that!  They are pretty cool!!!

Montgomery definately has one of my favorite suburban business districts in Cincinnati.  Bastille Day is a fun event to go to.  They close off the main street, have tons of food and music...good times...

^^^^^^You stole my post. Couldn't agree more.

You should have traveled about a mile south of this business district and taken some photos of one of the greatest high schools in the nation... :-D

Very sweet!

They're not common, but they're around.

Montgomery has seemed to have always understood how to approach their business district.  The new infill has done a very nice job at continuing to emphasize that sense of place that makes Montgomery special.

That new infill is really great (not the People's Bank though).

You are right inkaelin, Mason should take note.  Montgomery has a good business district and I have frequented the Montgomery Cyclery & BBQ many times since moving here.  The problem with Mason, is that while the city is surrounded by affluent residents and cookie cutter McMansions, the business district is still predominately for old Mason residents (rural minded, country folk) and they have been fighting change from City Hall.  There are still two Masons (although that is changing as time goes on) but Montgomery was always affluent.

Montgomery reminds me so much of Worthington in Columbus. Great set.

Kinda, though Worthington is a bit larger.  But the basic point, yeah.

Except no.  You're wrong :).
