May 12, 200916 yr Summertime = Put-in-Bay! I have been hanging out at the Cleats Gateway since they expanded into the neighboring unit in the building....
May 12, 200916 yr Lately, I've enjoyed hanging out in my neighborhood (Old Brooklyn) rather than trekking to other places (i.e. Tremont, Ohio City, or Detroit Shoreway). Around the beginning of the year, I set out on a goal to visit every bar and pub in the neighborhood. I'm only about halfway done. Some have really sucked, but I've found a few really great ones that I love. Steelyard Tavern (Old Brooklyn) The Dirty Dog (Old Brooklyn)
May 12, 200916 yr I've only lived in Cleveland since January, but I've become a regular at a few places. The Map Room (downtown) Forti's (formerly The Boneyard (dt)) Johnny's Little Bar (dt) The Blind Pig (I can't get enough 80's cover bands) Settler's Landing Park

May 12, 200916 yr Quicken Loans Arena.... of course! Panini's (Coventry)... great patio bar for sporting events Zocalo (E 4th).... my type of Mexican food. Really, the entire street should be on my list. E 4th is my #1 spot in all of GC at the moment. Children's Museaum (UC).... that's life when you have a 2 yr. old Timeout (Collinwood)... decent little watering hole Mario's/Golden Coin (Cle Hts).... decent mid-sized watering hole Euclid Creek Reservation (Metroparks).... within walking distance of my house... not the best metropark, but great for a long walk with the pooch or a bike ride Legacy Village.... there, I said it. What can I say, the Blackened Fish Po'Boy at Bar Louie is addictive Middlefield.... I dig the Amish. Especially the furniture they make. Baked goods too!
May 12, 200916 yr When I'm in town... Cleveland: Cleats (Downtown) Gusto (Little Italy) La Dolce Vita (Little Italy) Angelo's Nido Italia (Little Italy) Little Bar (Downtown) Algebra Teahouse (Little Italy...great breakfast on the weekends!) Teresa's Pizza (Downtown...I like the ownership)
May 12, 200916 yr Vulpter: I've been curious on what type of place Matinee is? I've seen ads for it in Scene making it look like it has live bands, etc? I'd be interested in your review. They have a lot of live music and bands. To be honest though, I have only been going to Matinee on Sunday or Tuesday nights. Sundays are Electronic/Drum & Bass, and Tuesdays are Open Mic nights. No one is ever there before 10:30 even though they open at 7 PM. The Open Mic nights are pretty good and although mostly acoustic stuff, there is some poetry readings and experimental music. It is worth going sometime. It is a little edgy, but very casual and people seem friendly enough to struck up conversation.
May 13, 200916 yr i've seen some bands at the matinee. free admission!!! other: pat's in the flats (tremont)
May 13, 200916 yr I basically go to the same 2 places downtown...Winking Lizard and Flannery's. Every once in a while I go to Johnny's Little Bar, best wings in town.
May 13, 200916 yr Here is my list of places I hang out at in Cincy (in no particular order): Fountain Square (Downtown) Sitwells (Clifton) Rock Bottom (Downtown) Coffee Emporium (Over-the-Rhine) Blue Wisp Jazz Club (Downtown) Piatt Park (Downtown) Panera Bread - outdoor seating on Calhoun (University Heights) Mac's Pizza Pub (University Heights) Updated list for me: Iris Book Cafe (Over-the-Rhine) Baba Budan's (Clifton Heights) Mac's Pizza Pub (Clifton Heights) Coffee Emporium (Over-the-Rhine) Fountain Square (Downtown) City Cellars (Downtown) Rohs Street Cafe (Clifton Heights)
May 13, 200916 yr I basically go to the same 2 places downtown...Winking Lizard and Flannery's. Every once in a while I go to Johnny's Little Bar, best wings in town. I'm not knocking Johnny's Little Bar since they use the same kitchen as Johnny's Downtown, but you gotta try Cleats's wings downtown too. That's one of the main reasons I go there. They're tied in my opinion.
May 13, 200916 yr In Cleveland: Eastman Reading Garden, CPL, Downtown Grumpy's Cafe- Tremont Prosperity- Tremont Great Lakes Brewing- Ohio City West Side Market balcony- Ohio City Whiskey Island On my damn stoop, drinking a beer- Tremont
May 13, 200916 yr Since no one else on this board is from Williamsport (that I know of anyway) not many people will know these places. But what the heck: 5 and Dime Diner: Cheap Food, Amazing Food, and a fun place. The Market Street Bridge at any time of the day: The walkway has one of the best vantage points of Downtown and the river. Downtown itself: Great to walk around and take photos, talk, and just enjoy myself. Hoyer's Photography: Camera shop that has been there for over 70 years. The guys are fun to talk to. Joey's Pizza near Penn College: Hopping with college students and one of my friends works there so I get free food. Kimbals Tavern: A bar right across the street from campus. Live music and great wings. Bullfrog Brewery: Cool microbrewery, awesome food. Live music. Bavarian Barbarian Brewery: Good place to get free, and big samples of awesome german beers. Rum Runners: They always have live reggae bands and have an outdoor eating area right on Market Street, one of the Main Drags in town. Plus they have great food. I don't know, Evergrey MIGHT know where some of these places are, but I doubt anyone else does. Just thought I'd share. Oh yeah. I forgot to mention the Clinton Central Model Railroad Club out in Castanea. When I need my model train fix, group therapy, and an escape from the real world haha. It's so calming to run a train around a layout.

There was a bizzare crowd though.
May 14, 200916 yr I'm kinda all over the place. For the day it's usually a coffeeshop in the Short North, Downtown, Harrison West or King-Lincoln. Occasionally Clintonville, Grandview, German Village, and Upper Arlington. In my neighborhood (Peach District) I make it to On the Fly for delish vegan fast food (not vegan myself, but I can't argue with the taste). For night spots there's: Tip-Top Downtown, Hi-Beck in the Brewery District, Surly Girl in the Short North, Blue Danube in Old North Columbus, and sometime Carabar in Olde towne East and Otani's in the northeast side.
May 26, 200916 yr My first thought upon reading the thread title was, "My house." But when I'm out and about, I can usually be found at the Coffee Emporium, either the Hyde Park or Downtown locations. Lately, I've been playing a lot in Eden Park, mostly frisbee and kite flying.
May 26, 200916 yr There are several streets and avenues in the French Quarter. It is a neighborhood, with a very several tourist areas within.
May 26, 200916 yr There are several streets and avenues in the French Quarter. It is a neighborhood, with a very several tourist areas within. Okay, I'm confused. Are you referring to the French Quarter in New Orleans? I thought you meant in your original post that was another French Quarter, somewhere else.
May 26, 200916 yr hmm, let's see what i did in old manhattan town recently. over the last couple weeks i was in the VICEROY and WOODYS (cavs game) & got food from SWEETHEART BAKERY, PITA GRILL, GAVORCHE & PASTIS (i treated myself after i took the highline building hardhat tour). these are all right in my neighborhood. nothing fancy except maybe PASTIS which is touristy, but even that can be reasonable. we were in the les one night and went to MAX FISH for drinks and ate at LE PERE PINARD (the dropback because KUMA INN was too mobbed as usual). i was downtown in chinatown over the weekend looking for tea and a new teapot. i got some frozen shrimp/chive dumplings & a viet iced coffee down there. i always enjoy poking around down here. mmm, for work i ate curry goat, collards & rice & peas at KAYLAHS HUT one day in the bronx -- i love that joint! i got sandwiches at a couple deli's up there too. today i got some rhubarb cider and spinach at a farmers market in downtown brooklyn in front of borough hall. let's see, for fun we went to the chelsea galleries and saw larry gagosian's mammoth late picasso exhibit and a few other things around there. we go to the galleries about every other weekend. we also went to see star trek on imax by lincoln center. crazy expensive (tix=$18.50/ea.!), but otherwise that was pretty cool to catch on the giant screen. as for my movie review i really liked how they freshened up the crusty old star trek franchise! i guess outside of work, classes & the gym this is all kind of typical weekly stuff for me.
May 27, 200916 yr Lately my hangouts have been few as I wait for a new job and try to spend less. I still go to my favorite bar in Ann Arbor, which is Ashley's They have hundreds of different types of imported beer from all over the world. Since I'm studying for the LEED NC exam, I hit up Sweetwaters in Ann Arbor's Kerrytown. Really good coffee, great people there, and comfortable.
