Posted February 21, 200817 yr I was in the Nations Capital this past weekend and one good thing came from this trip. I found the camera I accused my brother of borrowing and never returning. Boy, is he going to give me grief on this. Anyhoo....... I thought I would take some pictures of doors so I could get some ideas for my steps. I purposely took pictures around dusk so I could see the the homes looked like at that time of the day. Started in Dupont and walked down Embassy Row towards a friends house. I made a wrong turn and ended up in the neighborhood between Conneticut and Mass Aves. The single family homes reminded me of homes you would find in Southern East Cleveland (Forest Hills area), Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights. I'm not the HBIC or HNIC so don't expect great shots. Enjoy. one of my faves in DC Love this house! This is where I took a turn and ended up on streets I'd never been on. Aren't the lions precious? I walked down a street and end up in front of the Hilton where Ronnie was shot :shoot: Looking down Conn. Ave. toward Dupont Circle Katie, Gurl....I see you I see gay people I love this mansion. I call it the DC spook house! :-( Its the perfect place to decorate for Halloween. If I owned a single family house, this would be it! This is a house fit for a Queen like me! For you freaks in Cinci. :-P I love this church Some apartments on P Street The end.
February 21, 200817 yr Damn those houses towards the beginning are insanely NICE. And I love circular driveways. Great tour.

February 21, 200817 yr MTS, nice pics.. I wish I would have known you were in the hood, I was house sitting right in the neighborhood in the first part, and you had a picture of the dog park where I take my new pup. You were around lots of the DC power peoples homes. The one on the right in the one where the people are walking their dogs is Bob Bennett,s (I do their garden) right around the corner from that is Teddy Kennedy's and Rumsfeld etc... Cool area to walk around though.. Oh and the one that is "one of your favs" they just finished a huge renovation of in the fall.

February 21, 200817 yr HUSH. A dog park - no wonder where those folks were coming from. I briefly spoke to the portuguese couple and "Hugo" their dog, you see pictured, because I didn't exactly know where I was. I'm usually walking down (toward constitution) instead of up (toward Conn. Ave.), so it was nice to see the inner streets of the area. Which one is Rumsfields? I would have rang the doorbell and run! Damn those houses towards the beginning are insanely NICE. And I love circular driveways. Great tour. I hate circular and winding driveways. Almost everyone in Shaker has a damn circular driveway!
February 21, 200817 yr ^ And some of those in Shaker are "heated" to melt snow and ice. I'm not kidding btw.

If you continued on 24th down to the end (Kolarama) its the second from the corner on Kolarama. You should also add a burning bag of poo from the dog park if your going to do that!

Ahhh, young apprentice, that was the plan! Now I'm trying to figure out how someone who works for me can afford to live over there. hummm. I must be a good boss!
February 22, 200817 yr My favorite (non-Ohio) city in the United States. AND YOU TAKE PICTURES?? ??? YOU HAVE PURPOSE NOW?!?! ;) "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
February 22, 200817 yr I love this street of homes...what is really wild is that they are right smack dab in the middle of all the governmental buildings. If I remember correctly these are just East of the Capital Building...it's been a few years, but I remember them being unusually placed but very cool.

This was all in the Embassy row/Dupont Circle area. AND YOU TAKE PICTURES?? ??? YOU HAVE PURPOSE NOW?!?! ;) HUSH!

You're thinking of the Capital Hill neighborhood which is just east of the Capital. That is a great neighborhood, but this is over near the Dupont/Logan/Washington Circle area. Capital Hill does have one of the best bars in the city though, the Hawk and Dove. It's a great place to see seanators and hear politics being discussed.
February 23, 200817 yr Now I'm trying to figure out how someone who works for me can afford to live over there. Do his/her job responsibilities involve access to funds? :police:
February 23, 200817 yr Now I'm trying to figure out how someone who works for me can afford to live over there. Do his/her job responsibilities involve access to funds? :police: NO. but who knows what behind the door deals are taking place in DC. His wife is the daughter of a DC councilman or something like that.
February 23, 200817 yr Nice job, MTS... Dupont Circle maybe my fave DC hood (definitely prefer it over oh-so yuppie/trendy Georgetown). I agree some of those houses are Shaker/Cleve. Hts-like but, of course, w/ considerably less land... ... also see you shot KramerBooks & Afterwords, a D.C. institution and one of my MAIN haunts when I lived in D.C.-- one of the coolest spots in all D.C. ... Did you stop in, browse and/or grab grub?
February 23, 200817 yr Are you on the "team" as well? :-D I did pick up a cup of coffee but didn't stay to long as I had to get back to my room and change for dinner.
February 23, 200817 yr Nah, not a team member,... but a team friend. No worries, we can never had too many boosters! LOL
February 24, 200817 yr Great shots MTS. ^This church kind of reminds me of St. Anne's in Cleve Hts. Thats why I love it! And everytime I walk past, I think of st. Anne's!
February 24, 200817 yr You took pictures? :-o the "spooky" house, is that on Mass Ave., sort of catty-corner from CVS? Please do not tell me you're thinking of putting lions on your front stoop.
February 24, 200817 yr those are so nice! The last time I was in the Dupont Circle neighborhood I could not believe how much parts of it had cleaned up (since the 80's!). Now it is all gentrified. It was pretty funky and parts of it used to have a rather seedy gay cruising area and cheap liquor stores. One of the DC neighborhoods that still has a little funk left in it is Adams Morgan. Did you make it there?

February 25, 200817 yr I stayed in that Hilton; couldn't have asked for a better location (close to Dupont Circle, metro, etc.) And you take photos? Who knew?!? At least you did a good job! ;-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

At least you did a good job! ;-) Well atleast you weren't there when Reagan was shot. Its is a convient location as I can go to the gym on Conn & Florida and my assistants favorite chinese restaurant is directly across from Rite-Aid. Compliments from both the HBIC and the HBIN. Thank you...Thank you. I'm having a Sally Fields moment. :-)
February 25, 200817 yr Man, you guys are bringing back some great memories for me. I grew up in DC, and went to a small high school which was actually two townhouses at the corner of connecticut and wyoming (directly north of the hilton on conn). I drove down Mass ave passed the VP and all those embassies every morning. Ted kennedy lives in the area, and almost hit me in his car once...that's my claim to fame... Great pixs too!
February 27, 200817 yr "Ted kennedy lives in the area, and almost hit me in his car once...that's my claim to fame..." You'd think he would have learned after Mary Jo... clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
