February 22, 200817 yr Nice spread. I don't remember anyone taking photos of West Park/Kamms on UO (it is where i grew up). It is probably the most Irish neighborhood in the city.

February 22, 200817 yr ^Yeah, I grabbed some Lakewood photos too--Clifton, downtown, Birdtown, etc. You seem like a Gold Coast guy to me, however. I live in Daytonati, but had always identified with Cincy until my more recent facination with Dayton. Honestly, every trip to NE Ohio I do, the more certain I am that I want to spend some of my life there. I just wish Case had a planning grad program, rather than CSU.

As I left work last night I stepped outside and W.25th was covered in a blanket of white, glistening snow--appeared to be untouched by foot or car! Now I don't think that's good but it looked surreal... :wink:

I've thought of doing a West Park thread myself but haven't got around to it, maybe in the spring. Hopefully you got some shots of the beautiful colonials north of Lorain Rd. off RR Dr. The shot of the kids playing in the snow has got me all verklempt (as MTS would say). It reminds me of my brother and I as kids playing in the snow in our front yard wearing our Browns jackets. I'm looking forward to part II.

Inkaelin, nice pics! I totally understand wanting to have the Case name attached to your master's. I will say, however, that I moved to Cleveland solely to go to the Levin College for its graduate programs, based on the fact that they ranked second in the country in urban policy. I can tell you that I have never regretted that move ... the education I received was outstanding, the school is constantly abuzz with activity (community forums, nationally televised events, etc.) and the faculty is top-notch. Urban affairs geeks from elsewhere drool when I tell them I've had class with Ned Hill, for instance. Moreover, the education is affordable, and they have an abundance of graduate assistantships; I would have gone there anyway, but they gave me an assistantship that resulted in full tuition, a small twice-monthly stipend and allowed me to do case studies on best practices in workforce development for a book and talk to experts across the world about global urban development through the Prague Institute - not a bad gig! During the same period, I absolutely (and unexpectedly) fell in love with Cleveland. And because Levin has such a practical, hands-on curriculum, the city was like an urban laboratory for us. It was absolutely outstanding, and I definitely wouldn't write it off. I recently was awarded a fairly prestigious and very competitive international fellowship ... most of the other fellows are from places like Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins and Yale, but my CSU education didn't hinder me one bit in competing against them. I seriously hope you consider moving to Cleveland, and let us know if we can be of any help ... a lot of us forumers are fellow Cleveland-lovers and Levin alums.

Thanks for the response. Spending a couple minuets on CSU's website, I must say the MUPDD program, among others, sounds like something I'll have to consider.

You really did cover a lot of ground... including my home and work neighborhoods and points in between and beyond!

February 23, 200817 yr I just wish Case had a planning grad program, rather than CSU. Case is a great school for many a thing, but if urban planning is yours, then CSU is about top of the crop. And it's downtown! :) And if you like the area around Case a lot, it'll be a short Gray Line ride away here soon.

February 23, 200817 yr If you're looking for the best Urban Planning program in Ohio...look no further than the University of Cincinnati (undergrad especially). The undergrad program is VERY well respected and offers co-op opportunities in many places. Just check out where undergrad and and grad students are co-oping/interning: http://daap.uc.edu/planning/map_intern There are also additional international opportunities in places like: Greece, Italy, Brazil, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Eindhoven, Brussels, and the Peace Corp. February 23, 200817 yr yea, ill agree with rando, although I am a grad. student. Sometimes, I feel as though the grad. program is an after thought to the undergrad, although I still will be able to take 3 studios in 2 years, so I am cool with that.
