Posted February 29, 200817 yr Some pictures from the trip there last month (the Rockies, Zion National Park, etc.).... Some pictures from the Grand Canyon area.... Just in case you ever questioned the saying.... Cattle Hoover Dam Construction underway on the Hoover Dam Bypass. Lake Mead And a few random pictures from Vegas...
February 29, 200817 yr I had about 50 or so pictures from Vegas when I went. I had to reformat my laptop, forgot to back up all my pictures onto my external :bang:. Needless to say, I lost about 4 gigs of pictures. Vegas, St. Louis, Lake Cumberland and my college life. I love Vegas. Greatest city in the world. It is an Urban Planners ultimate dream. So much potential with this city. aaaahhhhhggggg (Homer Simpson drool)
February 29, 200817 yr I always thought of Vegas as an Urban Planner's nightmare. And it's so darn cheesy.
February 29, 200817 yr ^Vegas is Vegas. I think it being a "nightmare" would make it a great place for Planners to visit. The 2008 APA conference is in Vegas in a few months. I see a lot of great challenges that Planners will have to face with a city like that, thats why I think it would be every planners perfect project.
February 29, 200817 yr This looks like a 1960's urban renewal rendering to me. Nice stuff! You have been on a roll lately.
March 1, 200817 yr Love Vegas. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
March 4, 200817 yr Awesome pics! I'm not big on Vegas but i'd love to visit Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon in the future.
March 8, 200817 yr So in your picture that shows the bypass being built at the Hoover Dam, was that picture taken from the top of the dam looking downstream? I was out there in 2004, and they also were working on the construction of this bypass, and I was thinking that the bypass would be far enough downstream that it would not be visible from the top of the dam. I guess I was incorrect on that?
March 9, 200817 yr So in your picture that shows the bypass being built at the Hoover Dam, was that picture taken from the top of the dam looking downstream? Yes, that is correct. The bypass bridge will clearly be visible from the dam. I'm not sure how visible the dam will be from the bridge, but it could potentially be an awesome view of the dam. For safety reasons though, I can't imagine them making it too visible.
March 24, 200817 yr Great pics dfly. You seem to travel everywhere all the time. Have some extra cash to throw my way to travel? I visited the Hoover Dam and Vegas back in 2005. Enjoyed them both except the heat. https://www.instagram.com/cle_and_beyond/https://www.instagram.com/jbkaufer/
