Posted March 3, 200817 yr A 1st on UrbanOhio! Woodland Park is a streetcar suburb nestled between Olde Towne East and Bexley. This neighborhood is basically everything north of Franklin Park. There's no commercial strip, mainly just homes. It borders a rough part of OTE to the west and the further north you go the worst it gets. I focused on the nicer part of the neighborhood and as you can easily see these were taken at different times. My fave of the bunch. I had a bad experience at the intersection here today. I was on my bike and before I reached it I was being honked at repeatedly by a car that turned behind me just a block away and I wasn't trying to hog the road, there was simply little room between the cars parked on both sides of this block. At the stop sign I asked what the problem was and there were a couple of "gangsta" black guys, the driver advising me to move or he'll beat my ass. He pulled up beside me and the passenger wanted to know what I'm doing on the road and I simply told him bikes legally have the right to be on the road and he replied, "Nope, not where I come from." and they drove off. Oh well, ongoing gentrification will hopefully price them out of the neighborhood (not all of the lower-income residents of course). Definitely potential here. These are sitting empty while we are building new sprawling subdivisions in neighboring Delaware county. Bleh. Cute. Looks like a perfectly good rowhouse, but abandoned as you can see.
March 3, 200817 yr Woodland Park is one of Columbus' most underrated "streetcar suburban" areas. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
March 3, 200817 yr I don't know about you, but to me it's like OTE with a dash of Bexley which could be due to it's location. Dammit, I should have gotten northern Taylor Ave, which has new builds. I hope you guys appreciate these after what I had to go through!

March 3, 200817 yr Well, if someone wants Milo-Grogan they're going to have to do it! (I have the feeling that several months later I'll be the one doing it, ya lazy bums).
March 3, 200817 yr I think I've been in this area, thanks for identifying it! I hope you guys appreciate these after what I had to go through! Certainly, but if you don't want to go through the hassel, I always take requests.
March 3, 200817 yr :applause: Thanks Columbusite..... The house you said is one of your favorites is where my Dad's good friend lives and the house is beautiful inside as well as outside. If I knew how to take pics (as well as you guys did) I would venture off into Milo and take pics but .... maybe when the weather breaks
March 4, 200817 yr Great shots! I am really impressed by all of the Columbus neighborhood photo threads I see on UO; Columbus really has a lot good-looking, intact pre-war stuff left. How far is Woodland Park from downtown? What are the gentrification dynamics in the area?
March 5, 200817 yr I'm guessing around 2 miles east of downtown. As far as gentrification, this neighborhood honestly doesn't really need it as it's been a little island in a sea of a continuous gentrifying eastside. Though I hope for the sake of the east side residents, this case of gentrification doesn't mean relocation. May 4, 200916 yr At Home in Woodland Park By Anne | May 3, 2009 1:08pm This time we wander over to Woodland Park to tour the home of Matthew Arnold and Scott Ramsey. Woodland Park bills itself as Columbus’ Best Kept Secret, boasting many big, beautiful homes of exquisite architecture and two beautiful neighborhood boulevards that provide lush green spaces. The neighborhood is located in the Near East Side of Columbus and has also been called the “North Gateway to Franklin Park.” The proximity to Franklin Park and Wolfe Park are things Matthew and Scott both really like, as it gives them ample areas to walk their two dogs, Polu and Dusty. May 6, 200916 yr Great interior in that home as well. This neighborhood deserves more within walking distance than some crappy carryouts.
May 6, 200916 yr This neighborhood deserves more within walking distance than some crappy carryouts. I hope that changes. Columbus really needs to invest more money in their business districts. It's a shame, the condition that a lot of them are in. The housing stock will be incredible but then there will be nothing worth walking to unless it's one of the signature neighborhoods.
