I have always heard a lot about this neighborhood...so I encouraged my roommate to come wondering along with me on a journey to Decatur.  Roughly an hour and 20 minutes later on MARTA and we were there.  Cute little area...gave me a Montgomery (Cincy) feel on a larger scale, and surrounded by smaller homes.  I should also warn you that I felt like toying around with some photoshop filters.  Cliche but fun.

Atlanta has some nice little pockets of urbanity!

Decatur looks like it has a better building stock than Montgomery, but not the quitessential main street.

Decatur isn't in Atlanta.

Looks like unc on saw or took pictures of historic decatur.

Decatur is a nice inner-ring suburb with a nice downtown/TOD.  I WISH Montgomery were like it.

I should clarify and say that the vibe (i.e. the intangibles) of Decatur felt similar to Montgomery.  I don't know how to better describe it, but that is the best I can do.

Looks quite pleasant.

When I saw "Decatur" I thought of Decatur, Indiana. Not quite the same ambience:

Actually (as I'm sure you're going to guess already), I disagree.  Decatur seemed a bit more artsy than Montgomery, which is traditionally conservative.  Decatur, if comparable to a Cincinnati regional city/suburb, would be more like the Mainstrasse vibe mixed in with comfortable Ft. Thomas neighborhoods.  I really don't see any sort of comparison with Montgomery at all aside from being a suburb of a city with trees.

Well I guess my personal observations are inaccurate.

What I'm trying to convey is that when I was walking around Decatur...I got a similar feeling inside that I get when I'm walking around Montgomery.  It is obvious that Decatur is larger with higher densities...it is also quite obvious (when you're there) that Decatur is more liberal leaning than Montgomery.  I'm just talking about that certain feeling inside...get my drift?

Glad you sarcastically finally admit it. :)

And if I got your drift, I wouldn't have responded.  But hey, everybody's got feelings, ya dig?

last word.

My friend at Xavier transferred from Agnes Scott, in Decatur. She compared Decatur to Norwood! I just don't see it.

last word.

Like hell!

^I love these moments we have Chris.  :-D

We need to go to Pittsburgh and/or Cleveland soon.

You two are so cute together.

It's about to be "on and poppin'"

Between this and Little Five Points, it's almost enough to make me want to go to Atlanta. But I'd rather go to Madison, it's on an isthmus.

Madison is nice but there's DEFINITELY more to experience in Atlanta.
