(AP) An advocate for carrying concealed weapons plans to fight his former home's effort to ban hidden guns in its parks, which the state says conflicts with Ohio law.

Bruce Beatty, 48, of Luckey, said he intends to urge repeal of Arcanum's ordinance when the Village Council meets June 22. If that doesn't happen, he plans to walk through a park carrying a concealed weapon...

Guns... blech. But I guess if you're silly enough to carry a concealed weapon anywhere, you should be able the carry it in a public park.

I'm not sure what this will hold relevance to this parks thing...but the whole thing is crap!!!!!!!! Why in the world does ANY citizen need a semi-automatic weapon!?!?!?!? I understand that people will scream "what about individual rights" but BS!!!! This is a matter of public safety...the more guns off the streets the better!

COLUMBUS - The Republican-controlled Senate narrowly overrode Gov. Bob Taft's veto of a concealed-carry weapons bill Tuesday.

The override, the first of any governor in 29 years, means that more than 80 local gun ordinances, including Cincinnati's assault weapons ban, will be abolished in 90 days...

There is a concealed-carry thread in Ohio Politics.
