6,700 pounds of pot seized

Police grab $6 million haul, AK-47

By Abby Slutsky

The Journal Gazette

HARLAN – With a small statue of the Virgin Mary in a window and an American flag flying in front, the Antwerp Road home police raided Thursday looked like an average family home.

But what police found inside the home was anything but average. Inside the house at 22633 Antwerp Road, just east of Harlan, Allen County police found about 6,700 pounds of marijuana. Wrapped in large plastic bricks, the marijuana filled the home’s basement, lining the walls and sharing spaces with exercise equipment and a collection of “Star Wars” figurines. DVDs from “The Sopranos” lay on the floor near the area where the marijuana was found, and a “Scarface” poster was the only art on the wall in a small room in the basement.

wow!  Rob, How far does this guy live from you?

About fifteen miles from Fort Wayne, and about 6 miles from the Indiana/Ohio State Line. Harlan is a village that in recent years has been enlarged by new homes built by people who commute to Fort Wayne for work.

It's in Amish country. On the surrounding roads you'll see farms with no electric lines leading to them, and horsedrawn buggies. Or the horse poop where the buggies have gone.

Ahh.  Amish country, the perfect cover for a drug set up. Or so this guy thought.

Not really. A few dropped seeds fall on to fertle land the right time of year, weed grows like wildfire and helicopters see it.

And if the guy was smart, he'd lock it in his trunk like a good drug dealer. Police can't unlock your trunk without probable cause. Certainly not because he was speeding.

poor abby has herself quite the unfortunate surname

Damn...now that's a bust, probably makes those Oxford cops jealous...

Dang that's a lot!

Btw, anyone find the sentence structure in this article really poor?

Pretty bad judgement to risk attracting attention by speeding with a car full of contraband. Probably indulging in his own product a bit too much. I speculated before reading this that they were probably already sitting on him when he gave them the opportunity to stop him and search his vehicle.

hahaha I know the girl who wrote that first story!

I don't touch the stuff!    Gives me the munchies!

I can tell you one thing, i'd love to have the profits that he could have made from selling this stuff.

I can't help but wonder how you'd know that ;-)

SUV = Windows all around = no hiding place. Rented SUV = windows probably not tinted.
