Posted March 8, 200817 yr Sometimes called the “First Hampton,” The “Hamptons Mystique” was born in Westhampton Beach in the 1870’s, after residents began renting out rooms to travelers who got off at the then-new Long Island Rail Road station. The Greater Westhampton area is a loose collection of communities, with some of the island’s harder to pronounce names, including Quogue (pronounced kwog), Quiogue and Speonk, as well as Westhampton Beach, Westhampton and Remsenburg. hampton bays still active shinnecock coast guard station (1855, 1872, 1915 & last rebuilt 1940 after the 1938 long island hurricane) quogue (pop 1500) some quogue chotch bragging about his dune road address westhampton beach – the intercoastal dune road is supposed to be lined with architecturally significant homes....but no go -- they are just a bunch of dumb ugly & oversized rich guy mansions :-P dune road -- westhampton country club dune road -- westhampton public beach around Westhampton – this is the beachy “people’s hampton" town drag a too typical false front addition :-P -- but otoh hand every main st front in every town was in use sorta nola fauxla hampton? well ok, cute westisraelihampton? off main -- a teen focused courtyard of little skate/surf/music/goth, etc. shoppes this cool shop cat was boldly staring down traffic until everyone stopped for him  we’re shopping  an old barbershop post caught my eye remsenburg another missing steeple leaving the hamptons, just west along the south shore is eastport (pop 1500): Eastport dates to the 1730s when a gristmill was built there. March 9, 200817 yr awesome tour!!! I have a question.. How long does it take to drive from Manhattan to Montauk? I have a friend who lives in Montauk and when I lived in Jersey I would take the LIRR which takes a little over 2.5 hours but I was wondering how long it took to drive.
