October 10, 200717 yr Colts vs. Bengals, Reds vs. Pirates/Cubs/Indians Are you kidding me... Last year there was more interest in the Buckeyes than the Bearcats here in Cincinnati, Ohio. It had been that way for a long time (although it shouldn't have been), but don't try to change history. Look at the attendance at Nippert, only this year are things really picking up and multiple sellouts occurring. Obviously the Bengals and the Reds have had a big following for a long time. Now this year is different, there finally is interest in the football program. I agree that they should show the Bearcats on the screen. Would you be surprised to find out Tampa has similar issues arising now that South Florida has a good football team in a city that has many University of Florida fans.
October 10, 200717 yr USF is in the same boat and South Florida is more of a commuter school than UC.
October 10, 200717 yr The ESPN.com message board is sucking lately with trolls. I'm trying to follow predictions and bowl projections, and there is nothing but trolling fights. Argh
October 11, 200717 yr Author Didn't they play at different times? I know the UC game was on at 8pm. What time was the OSU game shown? I thought you had to have a special license to show over the air programming to the public. They both started at 8 PM.
October 15, 200717 yr I saw many matresses and couches out on the lawns in Clifton Blights. I guess they didn't have the guts to burn them last night? LOL
October 15, 200717 yr One loss & you change you mind faster than a woman!! we are awesome. who do they think can beat those bearcats? we are not a very good football team
October 15, 200717 yr Our offense squandered opportunities (2 turnovers in the redzone), but UofL also played their best defensive game all year. On a bright side...UC held UofL to one of their worst offensive showings all year. Plus we also knocked Brohm around a little, which made me quite happy.
October 15, 200717 yr One loss & you change you mind faster than a woman!! we are awesome. who do they think can beat those bearcats? we are not a very good football team I actually thought this was the bengals thread. I saw football and posted in the wrong place. UC actually is quite good. We finally got a offensive minded coach in after years of having defense guys and our strength and conditioning coach has these players on an insane regimine. Also I posted that the night of the bengals game not the bearcats game
October 20, 200717 yr muhahahahaha! I really didn't expect this considering Pitt is going through it's most pathetic season in about 15 years... but it's a crazy year for college football. Maybe the Big East really does suck?
October 20, 200717 yr I'll be crying myself to sleep tonight.. Not only was the game horrible, but the UC Basketball Fan Jam bs was a f-in waste of time. ugh
October 21, 200717 yr HEY!! Just because pittsburgh is the armpit of the Big East doesn't mean the Big East is the armpit Div IA. I really didn't expect this considering Pitt is going through it's most pathetic season in about 15 years... but it's a crazy year for college football. Maybe the Big East really does suck?
October 21, 200717 yr What is happening to our season...first Loserville then Shittsburgh! Get it together Bearcats, we have a conference to win.
October 31, 200717 yr But Kelly and Thomas both know there is more work to be done at UC. The Bearcats have no practice field other than Nippert Stadium and they have no indoor facility. Hmmmm, the Bengals are also interested in an indoor practice facility. At least Coach Lewis wants it, but it seems Mike Brown is too cheap to build one. I can see it now the Bengals and UC collaborate on a Frank Gehry indoor facility next the PBS. ;-) I can predict the future! I've been on UO too long when I start seeing synergies between projects. I was hoping Chad Johnson read UO not Bedinghaus. ;-) . . .Also Wednesday, the Bengals indicated there are going to be more discussions with the University of Cincinnati about the possibility of building and sharing an indoor facility. Bob Bedinghaus, director of development for Paul Brown Stadium, confirmed club officials met Tuesday with the UC athletic department, "UC outlined some creative and interesting initiatives that the University is exploring for its sports programs," Bedinghaus said in a statement. "The meeting was productive, and the two parties will continue to explore whether there are opportunties to collaborate on intitiatives in the future." http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=6405
November 3, 200717 yr They said the 31 points the Bearcats scored in the first quarter is a school record for ANY quarter.
November 4, 200717 yr That was a HUGE win for the Bearcats...that keeps us in the hunt for the Big East title.
November 11, 200717 yr Three Big East Teams in the AP Top 25. UC in at 21!! OSU took a nice tumble to #7 and Michigan fell to #23... November 11, 200717 yr Physical play = emotional win League title, BCS bid within UC's reach BY BILL KOCH | [email protected] E-mail | Print | digg us! | del.icio.us! | Click-2-Listen The last time the University of Cincinnati football team won eight games during the regular season, the Bearcats weren't even invited to a bowl game. That was in 1993, back when the program was an independent and considered such a non-entity that coach Tim Murphy left at the end of the season to become the head coach at Harvard. November 11, 200717 yr 'Bionic Ben' is praised by Kelly UC notebook: Mauk scrambles Bearcats to upset of UConn BY BILL KOCH | [email protected] University of Cincinnati quarterback Ben Mauk passed for more yards against Louisville this season in a losing cause, but for overall effectiveness, his performance Saturday in the Bearcats' victory over Connecticut might have been his best of the year. Mauk completed 21 of 33 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns without being intercepted and, although he was sacked twice, he avoided several others with his scrambling ability. [...] OVERCOMING PENALTIES: UC, the most frequently penalized team in the Big East, was called for 10 penalties for 105 yards Saturday, but they didn't affect the outcome. "We don't play clean all the time," Kelly said. "We are who we are. That shouldn't surprise you. But it's not through a lack of effort. They're out there busting their tail and playing as hard as they can play." FOR MORE INFO, VISIT: www.enquirer.com
November 11, 200717 yr I think this "everybody beating everybody else" phenomenon in the Big East is proving that it is a terrible football conference. The AP puts a few new Big East teams in the Top 25 every week due to decent records... but they beat nobody but creampuffs and each other.
November 11, 200717 yr ^WVU, UC, USF, and UConn have been on the AP pretty much all season. The Big East teams don't get enough respect to stay in the Top 25 after a loss. Other teams get a lot more lee-way.

The AP puts a few new Big East teams in the Top 25 every week due to decent records... but they beat nobody but creampuffs and each other. Go back to your hole. :-D Actually, the BIG EAST is ranked #2 in the sagarin ratings. So NO, the "everybody beating everybody else" phenomenon does NOT prove that it is a terrible conference. I guess you would prefer a conference in which 1 or 2 teams win and all the other team loses, right?

The AP puts a few new Big East teams in the Top 25 every week due to decent records... but they beat nobody but creampuffs and each other. That would include most conferences!!

November 18, 200717 yr WV downs UC 28-23. Saw this game on ESPN last night. The #4 ranked Mountaineers looked very good. Cincinnati played a good game, but WV was too strong with QB Pat White healthy and playing well. I was selfishly watching to see if UC could knock off WV to clear the way for OSU to the national championship game. Long shot, I know. But if UC wins too, more better.
November 18, 200717 yr The Bearcats put forth a truly spirited effort in this one. Sure we made a bunch of silly mistakes (primarily two fumbles in the redzone)...but we didn't give up and we showed a lot of heart (something I don't think WVU counted on). This is a new day for Bearcat football...stand tall!
November 19, 200717 yr Author So we're looking at either the Sun Bowl, the Meineke Car Care Bowl or the International Bowl. No disrespect to the MAC, but I'd rather they didn't go to Toronto again. The Meineke Bowl would probably be against a team like Wake Forest or Clemson and the Sun Bowl could be someone as high-profile as USC or Oregon State (again). There is also the Papa John's Bowl, but fuck that. The WVU/UCONN loser will get the Gator Bowl.
November 19, 200717 yr A Big East team will not go to the Gator Bowl. They want to keep their options open for Notre Dame, who gets the Big East option under the 4-year contract with BE/Gator Bowl. They already took WVU(?) last year, so they will take a Big12 team this year. The Meineke Bowl will probably be BE vs. Wake Forest. UC apparently got a bid last night for this bowl vs. WF. The Sun Bowl will be a BE vs. Pac-10 matchup. People are predicting UC vs Oregon State... but the bowl committees don't usually like rematches, esp since we KILLED Oregon State. If we went there, it would most likely be a USC or Cal, which would be awesome. The SUN BOWL is the most likely bowl game we go to. Reps have been to the last 3 home games. I actually spoke with them when we played UConn... They loved our students, crowd noise, and the band. UC would also get around $1.5mil for the sun bowl too... If we lose to Syracuse though, back to Toronto we go (or we would accept the meineke bid) Those are my predictions for the remainder of the season. And we will be 10-3 after the bowl. Finish with a BCS Ranking of 20. And we will be ranked preseason next for the first time in Bearcat History!!
November 20, 200717 yr I know, huh? Who'd have thought that Notre Dame would still be an issue EVEN THOUGH they are sucking ass...
November 20, 200717 yr Either way it looks pretty good for you eh neville. . . looks like we are heading south anyways... you guys looked good on Saturday, keep it up
November 22, 200717 yr Author A Big East team will not go to the Gator Bowl. They want to keep their options open for Notre Dame, who gets the Big East option under the 4-year contract with BE/Gator Bowl. They already took WVU(?) last year, so they will take a Big12 team this year. I forgot about that deal.
November 26, 200717 yr Congrats to the Bearcats on a great season! Cincinnati (9-3, 4-3) ends their regular season by winning at Syracuse (2-10, 1-6) 52-31. QB Ben Mauk threw for a career-high 431 yards and four touchdowns. The victory gives the Bearcats their first nine-win season since 1953.
November 27, 200717 yr http://www.sunbowl.org/ The poll is located on the bottom right of the website. Vote for Cincinnati to get in the Sun Bowl over Connecticut & South Florida.
November 27, 200717 yr So far the Bearcats are kicking ass in the poll. Cincinnati: 31,202 - 50.1% Connecticut: 16,137 - 25.9% South Florida: 14,991 - 24.1%
November 27, 200717 yr http://www.sunbowl.org/ The poll is located on the bottom right of the website. Vote for Cincinnati to get in the Sun Bowl over Connecticut & South Florida. Thread topic is a little misleading. This does not appear to be a vote to get them into the Sun Bowl. Just a vote for who fans want to be in it. And is this the bowl game we want them to go to? Is this the "best" bowl game we can qualify for?
November 27, 200717 yr We are either going to go to the Sun Bowl, Meineke Car Care Bowl, or the Papa John's Bowl. Their order of importance is the way I listed them...the Sun Bowl is the best bowl the Bearcats can get into at this point...and with the way teams are selected for bowl games I would imagine that a strong/decisive vote could help them make their decision. They want the game to have high viewership, high attendance, and a unique match-up that interests the fans and plays into the BCS rankings. From my understanding the Bearcats have had high numbers for bowl game tickets (in terms of deposits). That is a strong sign that you're going to bring a large number of fans. I think that most 'experts' also seem to agree that UC may very well be the best of these three; and in all honesty has proven this by beating both of these teams heads up. It would also make for a unique match-up between UC and Oregon. If we go to the Sun Bowl that's who we should be playing...if South Florida or UConn goes then you may have Oregon State there instead of Oregon. Bottom line is that we want to go to the Sun Bowl over these other two. If we end up in the Meineke Car Care Bowl expect to be playing someone like Wake Forest from the ACC. I'd much rather go up against Oregon in a higher profile bowl game...it also mean more $$$.
November 27, 200717 yr Shouldn't UC get a higher bowl than South Florida because we are ranked higher and we beat them them bad at their place.
November 27, 200717 yr Just read that the Meineke Car Care Bowl will be extending an invitation to UConn. It's all a bunch of bullsh!t anyway. The Sun Bowl got 2nd pic of the BEast teams, MCCB gets 3rd, and Papajohns.comblowme bowl gets 4th, Int'l Bowl gets 5th.
November 27, 200717 yr I couldn't be more disgusted with what has happened. We finished 3rd in a BCS conference with 9 wins to our record and a 23rd BCS ranking. We beat both USF and UConn head to head...finished higher in the BCS than UConn and essentially tied with USF. So 9-3 with a 23rd ranking coming out of a BCS conference and who will our opponent be...none other than the powerhouse Southern Mississippi. Who by the way finished 4th in C-USA behind perennial powerhouses like Eastern Carolina, Memphis and UCF. Thanks everyone from the bowls for giving UC the royal shaft! UC settles for lesser bowl BY BILL KOCH | November 27, 2007 The University of Cincinnati football team apparently is headed to the PapaJohn’s.com Bowl in Birmingham to face former Conference USA foe Southern Miss. The Hartford Courant today quoted sources close to the Connecticut program, which told the paper that the Meineke Car Care Bowl has selected the Huskies over the Bearcats to play in Charlotte on Dec. 29, probably against Wake Forest from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
